2 Texas Days on the Nile Frontier 2017
Ziphron Temple No. 100 is privileged to invite you to attend Texas Days on the Nile Frontier 2017 in Abilene, Texas on October 5 – 7, 2017. You will experience a Texas Days with excitement, fun and fellowship. You will be able to catch up with old friends and make new ones while having a blast!
The MCM Elegante (former Embassy Suites) is our host hotel, located at 4250 Ridgemont Drive, Abilene, Texas, where all events will be held. They provide a complimentary cook-to-order breakfast each morning and social hour with beverages from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. each evening. The hotel also provides a complimentary shuttle to and from Abilene Regional Airport.
On Thursday, we will begin Registration at 3:00 p.m., which is the same time our Market Place will open. There will be a Meet and Greet event from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where everyone can gather in the hotel atrium and visit with one another or enjoy a game of cards or dominoes. The Hospitality Room will also be open from 3:00 – 7:30 p.m. so you can meet, greet, and eat!
On Friday, after you enjoy your complimentary cook-to-order breakfast between 6:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., you can enjoy the Market Place beginning at 9:00 a.m., or walk across the street to the Mall of Abilene for additional shopping. You may also want to visit Abilene's historic downtown, which is full of fun shopping, museums, and great restaurants. If you miss breakfast and need a little snack, the Hospitality Room will be open from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Lunch will be on your own since preparations will be underway for Ceremonial. There are many wonderful restaurants near the hotel, including Outback Steakhouse, TaMolly’s Mexican Restaurant, Betty Rose’s Barbeque, Buffalo Wild Wings, and many more. Please join us for the Ceremonial which will take place in the Ballroom at 2:00 p.m. We hope to have members of other Temples assist Ziphron in the ceremonial, as we are a small Temple and several of our members are not going to be able to participate.
On Friday night, there will be a Social Hour from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. where you can enjoy visiting with friends and complimentary drinks prior to our Friday night dinner. Our Friday night dinner will be a good ol’ fashioned West Texas barbeque dinner served buffet style with barbeque chicken and brisket with all the trimmings, followed by a performance from Harvey McFadden, who is an outstanding Elvis singer. Dress is casual, so roll up your blue jeans or throw on your poodle skirt!
Saturday will be busy. Begin with the complimentary breakfast between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., then join us for the Business Meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Ballroom. After the Business Meeting, lunch will be on your own. Units will be practicing in the Ballroom from noon until 4:00 p.m. This year, we will have a contest for decorating the banquet tables to honor your Queen and/or Supreme Appointees (in lieu of door decorating). Those who register for the Table Decorating Contest will be able to decorate their tables in the Esplanade Atrium between noon and 2:00 p.m. The Hospitality Room will also be open from noon until 4:00 p.m. in case you need a quick snack amidst all the hustle bustle!
Saturday night, we will have a Social Hour from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Come enjoy a complimentary drink while you take in all of the beautiful table decorations and visit with your friends! At 6:30 p.m., we will have the entrance and introductions of all of our Dignitaries and special guests, followed by a dinner of chicken fried steak with all the trimmings. After dinner, we will move to the Ballroom so we can enjoy the “Frontier Follies” unit performances on the ballroom floor. A cash bar will be open throughout the performances.
Don’t forget to honor your Queen, Supreme Appointees, Units, and friends with an ad in our Texas Days on the Nile Frontier 2017 Program Book or with flowers.

Friday Night Texas Buffet and Entertainment
Harvey is from Houston, Texas, and has been an Elvis fan for as long as he can remember. He never saw Elvis in person but while serving in the Navy, he met Jimmy “Orion” Ellis, a country singer who had a superb Elvis style in his singing. It was also around this time that Harvey saw his first two Elvis impersonators. These experiences, along with his love of Elvis, inspired him to portray Elvis at a few parties, and the response was wonderful!
Soon after Harvey left the Navy, he went to Tennessee and met Elvis Tribute Artist (ETA) Lou Vuto, along with Elvis’ long time friend, Charlie Hodge. Talk about inspiration! This was topped off by a tour of Sun Studios and a second trip to Graceland (he had been years earlier). Harvey returned home and ordered his first jumpsuit. He performed several private events in 2000, leading to his first paid performance in June, 2001. Bookings began to build up, and in less than two years, Harvey began making over 50 appearances per year, starting in 2003. He added his Country Classics show in 2005 and went full time as an entertainer, in 2006. These successes lead to 109 performances that year. During 2007, his first full year of being full time, Harvey set a record of 263 appearances, and in 2009, an even bigger record of 310 performances. In 2010, he surpassed his 900th Elvis tribute and his 1,200th career performance, including his first international appearance, performing for Singapore's First Elvis Fan Club.
Harvey has had his Elvis songs played on Canada’s ETA internet radio numerous times over the years as well as Elvis.com internet radio in the U.S. He has also appeared on Houston KHOU TV Channel 11’s morning show several times, the KPRC Channel 2 news, and has been featured in many different newspaper and magazine articles. He has also recorded two gospel CDs (as himself) which have received airplay on KJIC Radio in Houston and other Texas Stations.
Harvey presently has 8 jumpsuits, the ‘68 leather outfit, the gold lame jacket, movie outfits, and more. He performs all eras of Elvis’ music and, of course, hands out scarves during the romantic songs.
Harvey provides exciting entertainment for any venue or occasion. Harvey and his wife, Sharon, reside in Winters, Texas, which is 40 miles south of Abilene. He primarily performs within 200 miles radius of Abilene but has also traveled to Branson, Birmingham, Meridian, New Orleans, and all over Texas. His primary mission: to touch as many lives as possible with the music and magic of Elvis – to make people smile and remember good times and especially, to remember Elvis.
