Petrol prices in Te Awamutu are up with some of the highest in the country. The unscientific survey received more than 100 responses and was enacted after 91 octane fuel prices hit $2.30 at some stations on Tuesday — the most it has ever cost in New Zealand. It was a day of lots of colour and fun but with a serious underlying message — bullying is not acceptable. Te Awamutu schools and workplaces turned pink last Friday for Pink Shirt Day which makes a stand against bullying. People sported clothing, footwear, hats and wigs in varying shades of pink to show their support. Celebrated annually around the world, the day began in Canada in 2007 after two students took a stand against homophobic bullying, mobilising their whole school, after a peer was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In New Zealand, Pink Shirt Day aims to create schools, workplaces and communi- ties where all people feel safe, valued and respected.

O¯ haupo¯ No. 2 Tama Reuben was the only player in either team to record 4/4 wins on the night. WWMC Hunters extended their run of wins to seven, since suffering their only loss of the round in week two to O¯ haupo¯, downing Rosetown Rebels 12-3. Steve Waldon and Mike Hawker threw 180s for Hunters, while Steve Wilkinson managed a maximum for the Rebels. Warriors moved into fifth spot after notching their fifth win at the expense of WWMC Dragons 10-5. The Warriors won the pairs 6-3 and singles 4-2 with Ken Bardsley and Peter Morris throwing 180s to help their cause.
