GENERAL NOTES

OVERTIME: Saturday night’s overtime win was Alabama’s first since a 27-21 over LSU win at Tiger Stadium on Nov. 8, 2008, and improved the Crimson Tide to 5-8 all-time in overtime games, including a 3-1 mark in overtime games on the road.

GAME CAPTAINS: Alabama’s captains for tonight’s game at LSU were Trey DePriest, and DeAndrew White. The Tigers won the coin toss and deferred the opening kickoff.

SERIES HISTORY: With the win, Alabama leads the series with LSU, 49-25-5, and has won four straight and six of eight in the series after the 20-13 overtime win tonight. The Crimson Tide owns a 26-9-2 record in Baton Rouge and a 29-9-3 record in the state of Louisiana.

DEFENSIVE NOTES

GETTING TO THE QUARTERBACK: The Crimson Tide defense has recorded a sack in all but one game this season () and added to its total with one from and another from and D.J. Pettway tonight against LSU. Alabama now has 24 sacks on the season for an average of 2.67 per game. The Tide entered the game tied for 34th nationally and fifth in the SEC in sacks.

RAGLAND SHINES ON DEFENSE: Butkus Award semifinalist had another game for the Crimson Tide defense collecting 13 tackles, including four solos and one for loss. He leads the team with 69 total tackles this season.

REED HAS CAREER NIGHT: finished as the Tide’s leader in tackles with a career-high 15 stops in tonight’s game. Entering the contest, he had 20 total tackles all season.

OFFENSIVE NOTES

COOPER BECOMES ALABAMA’S CAREER LEADER IN RECEIVING YARDS: passed DJ Hall for the No. 1 spot on Alabama’s all-time receiving yards list with his fifth reception in tonight’s game, catching 8 passes for 83 yards and a . He entered the contest needing 56 yards to jump Hall’s record of 2,923 yards set during the 2004-07 seasons. Cooper now has 2,951 yards for his career.

COOPER SETS SINGLE-SEASON RECEIVING YARDS RECORD: With his first reception of the game, a 9-yarder in the first quarter, Amari Cooper set the Alabama record for receiving yards in a season, passing for the top spot. Jones racked up 1,133 yards during the 2010 season on 78 catches. Following tonight’s game, Cooper has 79 receptions for 1,215 yards of offense.

YELDON OVER THE 3,000-YARD MARK: With 68 yards rushing against LSU tonight, junior running back T.J. Yeldon has surpassed 3,000 career rushing yards. He now has 3,029 rushing yards in his Alabama career, ranking sixth on the Alabama career rushing yardage list.

TIDE SCORES IN FIRST HALF FOR 98th STRAIGHT GAME: With Amari Cooper’s 23-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, Alabama has now scored in the first half of 98 straight games for the longest active streak in the nation.

SCORING STREAK CONTINUES: With Amari Cooper’s 23-yard touchdown reception from in the second quarter, Alabama has scored in 178 consecutive games – the longest streak in program history.
