Many Italian-Americans from all regions of Italy, and Americans in general, have a St. Joseph’s table or serve St. Joseph’s Day food. Individuals who received favors through St. Joseph’s intercession would promise altars to honor him. Quill chose the MSPCA as the recipient of the International Special Event Society Boston initiative “ISES Boston Pays It Forward” December challenge. Quill said she chose the MSPCA as her challenge recipient because “this organization is important to me because I care about the well-being, shelter and care for homeless animals. I support their belief that every animal deserves a chance and not one should be turned away.” Quill’s team participated in the Super Bowl Polar Bear Plunge on February 7th. “Our goal for the plunge was to raise $500 and we surpassed that with a total of $595 in funds raised. We came in 3rd place in the Team Honor Roll for most money raised and we were in the top 10 of overall fundraisers,” Quill tells us. Along with the assistance of a friend’s classroom to help collect towels, blankets, food and toys, over $1,100 was donated to the MSPCA Boston and Cape Cod. The International Special Events Society Boston Chapter started a monthly initiative called “ISES Boston Pays It Forward.” It was created to encourage their members to give back within the Boston community and beyond. Every month, one member is challenged to select an organization they value most. This member must then organize an effort to support that organization and meet his/her Luminettes can partner beautifully with a drapery. goal before the next chapter meeting. At the end of the year all Pay It Forward projects will be reviewed and the best one will be recognized and rewarded at their End of Year June Gala. Since the program began in September 2015, ISES Boston members have raised and donated over $4,275 in monetary donations and over $500 in kind donations to the following organizations: Voices of Hope, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, MSPCA, Pink Angels, WGBH and Housing Families. The International Special Events Society Boston is the local chapter of an international community made up of event planners, suppliers and vendors. ISES is the principal association representing creative events professionals globally.
