Midwest Endangered Species Home Shovelnose Sturgeon Listed as Threatened Due to Similarity

What We Do of Appearance

Featured Species To protect pallid sturgeon, an , the Service listed the shovelnose sturgeon as a threatened species under the “Similarity of Appearances” provisions of the Endangered Species Act. Species Information The pallid and shovelnose are difficult to differentiate and inhabit overlapping portions of the Missouri and basins. Pallid sturgeon will be protected by treating shovelnose State and County Lists sturgeon as a threatened species where their ranges overlap.
