CABINET decided:-

That it be recommended to the Governor in Council that, in accordance with the provisions of the Queensland Place Names Act , the names:- Barney Point, Byellee, , Clinton, Gladstone-City, Glen Eden, Kirkwood, Kin Kora, , O'Connell, South Gladstone, South Trees, Sun Val l ey, Telina, and West Gladstone be approved and that the names 'Clinton North' and 'Clinton South' be omitted from maps produced in the future.

CIRCULATION: Department of Geographic Information and copy to Minister. All other Ministers for perusal and return.

QUEENSLAND PLACE NAMES ACT 1988

APPROVAL OF PLACE NAMES

The Surveyor-General published notification on 17th September 1988 of a proposal to assign the following place names to suburbs of the city of Gladstone:

Barney Point Byellee Callemondah Clinton Gladstone-City Glen Eden Kirkwood Kin Kora New Auckland O'Connell South Gladstone South Trees Sun Valley Tel in a Toolooa West Gladstone and to omit the names 'Clinton North' and 'Clinton South' from future maps. These two names were approved in 1973 within the - 2 -

Shire of Calliope. The area concerned was subsequently incorporated in the City of Gladstone and is now proposed to be known as 'Clinton'.

2. A plan showing the Surveyor-General's proposals will be tabled at the Cabinet meeting.

3. No objections to the proposed names or to the omission of 'Clinton North' and 'Clinton South' have been received by the Surveyor-General .

I recommend that it be a recommendation to the Governor in Council that, in accordance with the provisions of the Act:-

The names Barney Point, Byellee, Callemondah, Clinton, Gladstone­ City, Glen Eden, Kirkwood, Kin Kora, Ne w Auckland, O'Connell, South Gladstone, South Trees, Sun Valley, Telina, Toolooa, and West Gladstone be approved; and that the names 'Clinton North' and 'Clinton South' be omitted from maps produced in the future.
