His real estate career began in 1978, and since that time he has completed in excess of 46 million square feet (sf) of transactions for a total aggregate rental of more than $30 billion.

Mr. Relyea was one of the first employees hired by twin brothers Louis B. Cushman and John C. Cushman, III, following the formation of Cushman Realty Corporation in 1978. Located in the office, he became Executive Vice President and the #1 producing broker in the firm. In 2001, Cushman Realty merged with Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. (C&W). Mr. Relyea was named Vice Chairman and on the Global Advisory Board of Directors of C&W, which currently has 13,000+ employees in 230 offices in 60 countries across six continents. Since his association with C&W, his average annual production currently ranks him as the #1 overall brokerage professional. In 2006 and 2007, he was C&W’s #1 and #2 broker globally for the Office Division. Most recently in 2010, as well as in 2008, Mr. Relyea was the #1 top-producing broker overall on a global basis.

Primarily representing corporate clients, Mr. Relyea specializes in transactions that include the sale, lease, build-to-suit, headquarters relocation, sale leaseback, and “blend and extend” requirements, to name a few, for major entities. Some of Mr. Relyea’s assignments include:

■ In 2010 represented BG Group in their America’s headquarters relocation from the Galleria area into the newest, first platinum LEED designed high-rise, 1 million sf office building in formerly known as MainPlace, but renamed BG Group Place based on their 164,000 sf lease. ■ Represented on numerous transactions, one including into a new trading operation in covering 300,000 sf and their lease extension in covering 670,000 sf in downtown . ■ In 2008 a 1.7 million square foot built-to-suit for Devon Energy Corporation’s World Headquarters. ■ In 2007 major assignments for Devon Energy (850,000 RSF); Anadarko Petroleum (221,398 RSF); Statoil (200,000 RSF) and many others. ■ In 2006, Chevron in the covering 465,000 and 1,266,714 sf at 1600 Smith and 1400 Smith, respectively, in Houston’s Central Business District, the later being the largest lease ever completed in Houston. In 2008 also represented Chevron in Anchorage, Alaska and El Segundo, California for 80,000 and 125,000 square feet, respectively. ■ In 2006, Shell Oil Company in their 690,000 sf lease in New Orleans.

■ Since 2006, represented Anadarko Petroleum Corporation on a lease of approximately 180,000 sf in Denver, CO, as well as various other transactions including the sale of the former 500,000 sf Kerr-McGee office building in Downtown Oklahoma City, OK. ■ In 2005, Marathon Oil Company in their 670,000 sf corporate headquarters lease in Houston, Texas. ■ In 2004, Chevron in the purchase of the 41-story, 1.1 million square foot, building located at 1500 Louisiana in Houston, Texas. ■ In 2003, represented Citigroup on numerous transactions, including a 560,000 sf sale/ leaseback in Dallas, Texas. Also, in 2004 an 850,000 sf build-to-suit representing Citigroup’s largest single office presence outside of New York. ■ In 2001, The Boeing Company on its corporate headquarters relocation from Seattle, Washington to Chicago, Illinois covering 300,000 sf. ■ In 1997 along with the 2008 renewal for Continental Airlines, Inc. for approximately 830,000 sf in a suburbs-to-Downtown headquarters relocation, representing the single- largest, intra-city relocation in Houston’s history. ■ In 2003, King & Spalding, the largest law firm in the Southeast, in its leasing of 439,000 sf in a 680,000 sf build-to-suit in Midtown Atlanta. In 1991, a 310,000 sf lease in a 1.1 million sf build-to-suit in downtown Atlanta. Beginning in 1997 with the 7,000 sf initial office in Houston, Mr. Relyea has represented the firm in 100,000 sf of lease transactions in Houston. Other law firm clients include: Kilpatrick & Cody, the fourth largest law firm in Atlanta for 141,000 sf, in 1991; Fulbright & Jaworski for 324,000 sf in Houston in 1996 and again in 2003 for 344,000 sf, plus their Austin office for 110,000 sf in 2001; Washington for 130,000 sf and New York office for 120,000 sf in 2005; Bracewell & Patterson for 175,000 sf in Houston in 1994 and again in 2003 for 200,00 sf; Locke Liddell & Sapp for 175,000 sf in Houston in 1999; Jackson Walker for 58,000 sf in Houston in 2000, expanded to 67,000 sf in 2001; and McAfee & Taft in Oklahoma for 70,000 sf in 2006. ■ Mr. Relyea represented Standard Oil Production Company (now BP Amoco Corporation, formerly BP Exploration Inc. and Sohio Petroleum Company) in its 147,000 sf headquarters relocation from San Francisco to Houston, plus eight subsequent negotiations expanding this commitment to 391,000 sf. In addition, he negotiated in 1992 the 434,000 sf land acquisition for BP Exploration Inc. (now BP Amoco Corporation) in West Houston (the 20-story, 562,000 sf build-to-suit project known as BP Plaza). In 1998, after BP purchased the developer’s share in the building, he represented BP in a subsequent sale of BP Plaza to Crescent Real Estate Equities, Ltd., coupled with a long-term leaseback by BP. ■ In 1994, Amerada Hess Corporation in the 375,000 sf relocation of its exploration and production operations from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Houston. ■ The 265,000 sf corporate headquarters relocation for Apache Corporation from Denver to Houston in 1992 and a 320,000 sf lease renegotiation/extension in 2003; 60,000 sf expansion in 1995; 11,000 sf in Lafayette, Louisiana; 25,000 sf in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and 60,000 sf in Calgary, Canada ■ Over 1 million sf for Schlumberger Limited, including 100,000 sf in Simi Valley, California, the consolidation of the majority of Schlumberger's Houston operations to a build-to-suit campus development in Sugar Land, Texas, plus assignments in Boston, Columbus, Austin, Dallas, etc. ■ GE Capital on a 130,000 sf relocation to 2000 West Loop South in 1994. ■ Compaq Computer Corporation on approximately 30 office, industrial and retail leases and sales around the world totaling over 4 million sf. ■ Since 1982, Conoco Inc. on the leasing, purchase and disposition of over 1 million sf. In addition, Mr. Relyea represented Conoco on the sale to Trammell Crow Company of 10.6 acres in front of Conoco’s headquarters building in West Houston. ■ In 1994, Company on various extensions and expansions covering approximately 200,000 sf in . In 1996, on the 708,000 sf long-term renegotiation/extension of Pennzoil’s headquarters lease in Pennzoil Place. ■ In primarily representing major users, Mr. Relyea has sold over 12 million sf of office buildings, the largest being his representation of Chevron in the purchase of the 41-story building located at 1500 Louisiana in Houston, the sale of the 20-story, 562,000 sf BP Plaza for BP Exploration, a 565,000 sf building for Chevron, the 500,000 sf former Kerr- McGee building in Oklahoma City, a 409,000 sf building sale to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for its Houston area headquarters, and Compaq Computer on the sale or purchase of over 3 million sf. ■ Has represented numerous major corporations on build-to-suit transactions including the 1.7 million sf headquarters building for Devon Energy in Oklahoma, City, 830,000 sf (divided into two campuses) for Citigroup, 560,000 sf Class “A” for British Petroleum, 300,000 sf for Chevron in Covington, Louisiana, 200,000 sf for Shell Oil Company in the Energy Corridor of West Houston, Schlumberger and Compaq Computer for 40,000 sf in College Station, Texas; also two buildings for King & Spalding – one containing 1.1 million sf and the other 680,000 sf in Atlanta, GA and 100,000 sf in Louisiana for BP.

Mr. Relyea is an honoree of several industry awards, including the 2006 and 2008 “Deal of the Year” given by the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association for his representation of Chevron in its 1.2 million sf lease and Hess Corporation’s 844,000 sf lease, respectively. In addition, he is a three time recipient of NAIOP’s “Office Leasing Broker of the Year” in 1991, 2002 and 2008.

Mr. Relyea is a member of the Houston Association of Realtors, Texas Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors. He was formerly Vice President, Program Chairman and a two-term member of the Board of Directors of the Houston Office Leasing Brokers Association (HOLBA). He has also served on the Board of Directors of NCNB National Bank/Eldridge, Cahaba Construction Company and St. Francis Episcopal Day School. He currently sits on the advisory board for Yellowstone Academy, which is a school for low income children growing up in a difficult family
