CHAPEL NOTES All Saints held its fourth Baccalaureate ceremony last Thursday. Held in Jones Gym, the service honored the senior class of 2019. High school faculty processed in academic dress and seniors wore cap and gown. The ceremony provided an opportunity to pray with and for the soon-to- be graduates. It was a time of slowing down during the rush of gradu- ation activities to give thanks to God for the young people, their hard work, and their zeal for life. The Rev. Jim Haney, rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lubbock provided an encouraging homily. Chaplain Paige McKay led the service. Following the service, Mrs. Gwen Belk, high school counselor, announced the choice of college for each senior. It was a memorable morning, thanks be to God!

SUMMER BIRTHDAYS - CHAPEL BIRTHDAY BLESSINGS We want to celebrate all of our students and their birthdays. I’d like to say a big thank you to all the parents and grandparents that read to our PLC kids during their library times. They love seeing you! “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go,” said Dr. Seuss. Did you know that there is a measurable “summer slide” among children who do not read during the summer? We have some great resources in Lubbock.

2019 Summer Developmental Camps www.brashearbasketball.com

Brashear Basketball Summer Developmental Camps are a fun, positive, high-energy experience that develops basic basketball fundamentals for both boys and girls. Our goal is that each child improves during the camp and leaves with a knowledge of not only basic basketball skills, but the desire and an understanding of how to continue to improve on their own.

The camps focus on the basic basketball fundamentals: footwork/agility, ball-handling, dribbling, passing/catching and shooting. Every day each young player will be introduced to new individual and group drills encompassing the five target areas. The drills will be progressively taught and reviewed each day, and the skills will be incorporated into a variety of games and competitions. The developmental camps will focus on positive improvement each day for each child in a fun, energetic and competitive environment.

All camps are taught and coordinated by Robert Brashear, a Lubbock native who played collegiately at the Air Force Academy and Texas Tech, he then coached nine years at Texas Tech. While coaching at Tech he was a part of three Southwest Conference Championships, tutored two conference players of the year, 13 All-Conference players (SWC & Big 12), 5 NBA players (one lottery pick) and numerous others who played professionally. Additionally four other players have gone on to currently coach in the NBA. Many other players and managers have gone on to coach at the high school, college and professional level. Robert served as the director for the Texas Tech Summer Basketball Camps for nine years. He is currently the Athletic Director and Boys Basketball Coach at All Saints High School in Lubbock. Brashear Basketball offers the premier skill development, shooting instruction and offensive efficiency training clinics and camps for girls and boys in the West Texas area.

The staff at Brashear Basketball is comprised of several current and former high school and college players and coaches that share a commitment to young people and understand the philosophy that the development of strong fundamental skills at an early age combined with a high-energy positive work ethic equates to future success.
