UF NCAA Gators have won 17 NCAA Regional The final stop for the 2018 season is St. Louis, Mo., but to get a ticket to the Show-Me State, the Gators Regional Championships - 1982, ’84, ’85, ’87, ’97, ’05, need to earn it at the NCAA University Park Regional. NCAA Regional action is Saturday, April 7 at 4 p.m. History: ’06, ’07, ’08, ’09, ’10, ’12, ’13, ’14, ’15, ’16, ‘17 ET in Penn State’s Rec Hall. GATOR SOCIAL What the teams are vying for at each of the six NCAA Regional sites is a top-two finish to advance to the Florida Gators Gymnastics NCAA Championships, set for April 20-21 in St. Louis, Mo. The 12-team NCAA Championships' field Florida Gators competes in two semifinal sessions of six teams each on April 20. The top three teams in each session @GatorsGym advance to the April 21 NCAA Super Six to determine the team champion. Florida has advanced to the @FloridaGators NCAA Championships 35 times in the meet's 36-year history, missing only the 2000 event. The Gators @JennyRowlandUF moved from NCAA Championships semifinal competition to the NCAA Super Six team final 12 of the last 14 years (2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017). Florida won its last six regional titles, including the 2017 NCAA Regional held in Gainesville. 2018 NCAA REGIONAL A sweep of the the Southeastern Conference Championships’ event titles wasn’t enough for the Gator COMPETITION SCHEDULE gymnastics team at the March 24 event in St. Louis, Mo. LSU took its third SEC Championship at 197.40, followed by Alabama (196.975) and Florida (196.825). The Gators led at the midway point, but a miss 2018 NCAA University Park Regional Schedule calculated in its floor rotation dropped UF in the standings. McMurtry was a double-winner in the SEC Awards revealed March 29. McMurtry is the 2018 SEC Event Specialist and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She is the second in SEC history to claim a gymnast of the year and scholar-athlete honors in the same season. McMurtry is the first to do it twice (2017 SEC Gymnast and Scholar-Athlete). Five Gators picked up National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC) Regular- Season All-America honors, announced March 28. McMurtry (vault, bars, beam - all first team) and Boren (all-around, beam, floor – all second team) each claimed three honors. Second-team honors also went to Baumann (beam), Gowey (beam) and Slocum (vault). Bridget Sloan won the 2016 NCAA all-around and shared that season’s uneven bars and balance beam titles. Returning All-Americans: Five with 21 honors in NCAA competition Alex McMurtry is the reigning NCAA all-around champion and Kennedy Baker 2017 – floor^ shared that season’s uneven bars crown. The Honda Award for 2016 – vault*, floor*, all-around^, bars^ gymnastics went to Sloan (2016) and McMurtry (2017), 2015 - floor * distinguishing them as the nation’s top collegiate gymnast. McMurtry was part of a rare double in 2017 and 2018, claiming Alicia Boren 2017 – all-around^, vault^ both the SEC Gymnast (2017)/SEC Event Specialist (2018) and 2016 –beam* the SEC Scholar-Athlete awards. Rachel Slocum 2017 – vault^ At Auburn: Rowland came to Florida after spending five seasons at &-NCAA champion │ *-first team │^-second team Auburn. She joined the Auburn coaching staff as an assistant coach in October of 2010 and was elevated to associate head All-SEC: Seven with 28 honors coach in March of 2013. Rowland worked with all aspects of the Kennedy Baker 2017 AA, FX@ Amelia Hundley 2018 V & UB Auburn gymnastics program, coordinating all of the program's 2016 AA@, V@, FX 2017 UB community outreach efforts and interactions on campus as well 2015 FX as playing an integral role in recruiting and in-gym activities.
