2007 Annual Report to Donors Our Thanks to You. July 2008

Dear Friends:

I am inspired on a daily basis by the generosity shown by our friends in the community—whether they are individuals, organizations, corporations and businesses or foundations. Each has shown a generous commitment to supporting Nemours as it works to build a healthier future for children.

Philanthropy is making a considerable impact at Nemours— providing signifi cant resources for clinical care, biomedical research, health education and health promotion initiatives. Each gift advances the ability of Nemours to achieve its ultimate vision—freedom from disabling conditions. I thank each of our generous donors for making that possible.

The Nemours Partnership for Children’s Health is delighted to announce that it has a beautiful new home on the campus of the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. We are now located in the former Medical Director’s Residence—a lovely home originally built by Jessie Ball duPont for Dr. Alfred Shands, the fi rst medical director of the hospital. If you are in the Wilmington area, I invite you to stop by for a tour.

On the last page of this report, you will fi nd information about some new and interesting ways to make a contribution to help children, some that offer signifi cant benefi ts to you, as well.

Thanks again for helping our children. We truly appreciate your generosity.

Sincerely,

Lori J. Counts Managing Director THE The Nemours Society was established to honor and recognize individuals whose annual contributions total $1,000 or more. Each year, Nemours is the recipient of an amazing variety of gifts from individuals, organizations and companies. In 2007, 573 such contributions, valued at nearly $200,000, were gratefully accepted.

Who are these wonderful donors? Scout troops, churches, schools, companies, civic organizations, athletic teams, clubs, needlework groups, and restaurants all contribute items to bring a little joy into the lives of sick children. In-kind gifts also come from individuals, including some from children who have been hospitalized themselves, or just want to show that they care about other kids.

Toys, board games, DVDs, books, craft supplies, video games, dolls, new stuffed animals, and tickets to sports events are among items contributed. Handmade blankets, quilts, hats and pillowcases are also quite popular.

Some items are used in Child Life programs, which provide recreation and Robin Hain of Colgate-Palmolive presents a “Fun Center” to Thomas P. Ferry, President diversion for sick children. Others are used for holiday “shopping” for and CEO of the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for young patients. Like the Carillon, a landmark on the campus of the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, your gift will resonate through the years, helping to ensure that funds will be available to bring the very best services to the children who need them most.

A simple way to make a planned gift is through your will.
