Sig Sauer - MCX Mandatory Carriage Assembly Replacement Program
Sig Sauer - MCX Mandatory Carriage Assembly Replacement Program SIG SAUER is conducting a mandatory replacement of the carriage assembly in SIG MCX rifles. Sig has found through extensive factory testing that in extremely rare instances, not reported in the field and extremely difficult to replicate, a condition may exist causing an unintended discharge. Failure to follow the loading procedures and basic rules of safe firearms handling outlined in the user’s manual has the potential to cause serious bodily harm or death. Although this has only been witnessed in 300 blackout, SIG has decided to upgrade all MCX models since the MCX is a modular platform and we want to ensure the quality and reliability of all products we manufacture. Stop use of firearm immediately, and visit the SIG SAUER website listed below as soon as possible to register your firearm, initiate the process and view a video explaining how to change out your carriage assembly. SIG will send you a prepaid box to return your complete carriage assembly to the factory. A new assembly, designed with the firing pin locking mechanism, will be shipped out to you within 5-7 working days of the receipt of your parts at no cost to you. Please note total in transit times will vary based on geographic locations. SIG will also send you a $50 gift voucher for any inconvenience this may have caused. This upgraded carriage assembly addresses this potential issue while enhancing the performance and longevity of your rifle. You may also contact Sig Sauer customer service at the number below with any questions if needed. -

Firearm Sound Suppression
Firearm Sound Suppression Nature and Measuring of Firearm Sounds Philip H. Dater, MD Instructor, LMO Training, Henderson, NV ©2014 P. Dater Antares Technologies, Inc Nature of Sound • Air in motion • Pressure variation the human ear can detect • Pressures measured in Pascals* • Threshold of human hearing: 20 µPascals (0 dB) • Sound is a form of overpressure *NOTE: 1 PSI = 6895 Pascal Decibels (Db) • Pressures in Pascals are unwieldy numbers • Decibels are a ratio of pressures (named after Alexander Graham Bell) dB = 10(log10(P1/P0)) where P0 is the reference pressure (20 µPa) and P1 is the measured pressure Example: doubling (or halving) of the pressure is a 3 dB change, changing the pressure by a factor of 10 is a 10 dB change or a factor of 100 a 20 dB change If 1 PSI = 6895 Pascal. How many PSI overpressure is a 170 dB gunshot? Firearm Sound Sources Firearm sound generated by 1. Sudden release of hot, high pressure propelling gases in bore, and 2. Sound of bullet in flight (ballistic crack/sonic boom) which is generated outside the weapon system and cannot be addressed by a suppressor Firearm Sound Character Sound diminishes by inverse square law as observer moves away from source. Each doubling of distance reduces sound level by 6 dB. How Loud are the Weapons? P229 .357 SIG 162-163 dB P229 .40 S&W 161-162 dB P228 9mm 159-162 dB AR15 .223 162-163 dB (164 db M4) (All measured 1 meter to the left of the muzzle) Maximum Safe Sound Levels Maximum permissible sound exposure before hearing protection is required: • Steady Sound (OSHA) : 85 dB work environment (40 hr/week, 52 wk/year) • Peak Firearm sound (MIL-STD-1474D) : 140 dB (Assuming no other excessive exposure) Firearms and Hearing Damage • Hearing damage is dose related and cumulative. -

Gordon V. Sig Sauer, Inc
Case 4:19-cv-00585 Document 1 Filed on 02/20/19 in TXSD Page 1 of 31 IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF TEXAS HOUSTON DIVISION DANTÉ GORDON, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, CASE NO. _____________ Plaintiff, v. CLASS ACTION COMPLAINT SIG SAUER, INC., JURY TRIAL DEMANDED Defendant. PLAINTIFF’S ORIGINAL COMPLAINT Plaintiff Danté Gordon, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated as set forth herein, alleges as follows: NATURE OF THE ACTION 1. This is a class action brought by gun owners against Defendant SIG SAUER, Inc. (“SIG” or “SIG SAUER”) for manufacturing, distributing, and selling SIG P320-brand semi- automatic pistols that, due to a defect, can inadvertently discharge a round of ammunition if dropped on the ground (a “drop fire”). SIG repeatedly misrepresented and warranted that the P320 pistols were “drop safe,” “won’t fire unless you want [them] to,” and are “originally manufactured free of defects in material, workmanship and mechanical function.” SIG’s original design and manufacture of the P320 pistol rendered the weapon unreasonably dangerous for its intended uses. 2. The P320 is a popular and commercially successful pistol. It is used by law enforcement agencies all over the country, and owned by hundreds of thousands of civilians. In Case 4:19-cv-00585 Document 1 Filed on 02/20/19 in TXSD Page 2 of 31 2016, the U.S. Army selected the SIG P320 to replace the M9 service pistol as the standard-issue sidearm of U.S. military servicemembers. -
