Was Member, Punjab Legislative Assembly during 1952—57 from Sohna, district Gurgaon ; Remained President, Vice-President, and General Secretary of the District Congress Committee, Member, Congress Committee and Delegate, A.I.C.C. ; Joined Congress in 1930 whole time worker since 1933; Resigned as protest when P.P.C.C. expelled the founaers cf Congress like Pt. Shri Ram Sharma and Shri Kedar Nath Sehgal, the great patriots ; Rejoined Congress in 1955 ; District General Secretary, Kasturba National Memorial Fund; President Bengal Famine Relief Fund, Ambala Division ; Was first man in Pataudi State, who forced the ruler by Satyagraha to accept demands of Kisatis ; Was arrested by Nawab of Pataudi in 1939 and imprisoned for 13 years for helping the Praja Mandal activities, but after a tew weeks the State compromised with Praja Mandal and was released but externed from the State for life ; Led a Jatha of 10 thousand Kisans at Pataudi and launched satyagraha against the Nawab of Pataudi in 1938; In 1940 was arrested for delivering speeches in villages for individual satyagraha, was imprisoned for 4| years and fined Rs 300 ; On refusal to p< y the fine, property and house was attached but was released when at the time of auction of bis house, one of his friends paid the fine ; Was released when Government compromised
