PITCH COUNTS RULES AND GUIDELINES – Each manager will receive a set of Pitch Count Verification forms to fill out and sign after each game. The monitoring of the game counts should be easily monitored by each manager and professionally cooperated with between the two managers. The Verification form is to be turned in to the Official Scorer after the game to be given to the Tournament Committee each day for monitoring and communication. The emphasis on this trial method is for self monitoring and implementation. Please be diligent in this area for this event. The Daily Pitch Count Maximum is 105 pitches and is a “drop dead” number. No pitches over 105 is allowed. Pitch counts are to be kept by each club and monitored by the clubs in the game. Cooperative checking with each other is expected and needed. If a pitching violation occurs, the rule is the game is stopped and the pitcher is removed from the game. The new pitcher gets 8 warm-up pitches. There is no forfeit. We use the pitch count limits for 17-18 as shown on this chart. A pitcher may not throw three consecutive days regardless of the # of pitches he throws in a day. This is an integral part of the MLB Pitch Smart plan we must follow. A day means a day. It begins at 12:00:01 and ends at 11:59:59 pm. If we start a game prior to midnight the pitcher’s pitches and all that follow him in that game belong to that day even if the game doesn’t end until 4 am. AABC Handbook If a pitcher is found to have exceeded the allowed number of pitches during a game, the illegal pitching situation will be rectified immediately. The tournament committee will review the infraction after the game and may impose an additional one game suspension for the manager if warranted. The pitcher in question will not receive any direct penalty.
