PROJECT SUMMARY

The venue: Avola

The city of Avola is on a verdant plain, washed by the Ionian Sea. Situated in a strategic position from the tourist point, halfway between Syracuse, art city and , a baroque UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the ideal base to explore the exciting archaeological, naturalistic and enogastronomic itineraries of south-eastern Sicily.

From Avola is also named the famous “Nero D’Avola” wine whose origin is related to the vineyards of the town.

Avola is a small town on the sea, its sandy shores allow for a quiet and comfortable bathing, there are not many cliffs and countless creeks where it is possible to isolate itself in total relaxation by listening only to the noise of the sea.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The main goal of this project is giving tools to the participants so they can improve their skills organizing youth projects like Erasmus+ (but not only). We will work during this project on six main fields:

● Non formal educational/debate/evaluation methodologies, Youthpass ● Environmental sustainability of a project and how to reduce the impact ● Audiovisual material, pictures and videos of a project ● Use of internet and websites, use of social networks ● Teamwork tools (slack, trello), forms ● Legal aspects (data protection policies, insurances, etc.)

Also, on a secondary basis, the project will serve as well as making contact event. We will also discuss about the Erasmus+ program on a wider view.

Besides, the program will include interesting and funny activities such as visits, night activities or cultural presentations. PARTICIPANT’S PROFILE

Participant requirements

● To have both interest on the topic of the project and an active participation. ● To be a youth worker who already works in the field (social worker, teacher, animator, youth worker) or someone who wants to get trained in order to become leader/facilitator in youth projects. ● To be above 18 y.o. ● To have a fluent level of English. ● To hold the European Health Card (EU countries) or a medical insurance (Non-EU countries) valid during the period of the Exchange. If not, you might be requested to sign a document that exempts us from any responsibility related to eventual health care costs.

Group requirements

● Gender balance (2 boys / 1 girl or viceversa). In case you need to send a 3-0 group, contact us in case we can balance with other groups.

ACCOMODATION AND FOOD

We will spend our typical day in the accommodation, since it counts with working room and they will also provide meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). There will be options for people with food restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, allergic, religious reasons, etc), as long as they point it out in the corresponding form that participants will receive before the Project, once they have been selected.

We will be accommodated in a nice farm called “Usamborgia” which is located between two cities Avola and Noto.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided in the same place three times a day including two coffee breaks.

The whole building has free wireless coverage.

We strongly recommend all the participants to inform the organizers IN ADVANCE about any special needs such are dietary, vegetarian or any other kind of request.

TRAVEL

All the participants must purchase their travel tickets that will be covered up to the following amounts according to the budget given depending on the distance band:

● Estonia → 360 € ● Portugal → 360 € ● Armenia → 360 € ● Bulgary → 275 € ● Italy → 20 € ● Spain → 275 €

At Catania airport you'll find two bus companies going to Avola or Noto.

2) Interbus

Travel arrangements The nearest airport is Catania Airport, but you can fly to Comiso or Palermo Airport as well. Once you’re at Catania airport, take a bus (Intercity, AST) to Avola or Noto. One way ticket costs 7,40 EUR (Avola) and 8,40 EUR (Noto). The journey to Avola lasts around 70 minutes and to Noto 85 minutes. There is 1 bus every hour for each direction.

REALLY IMPORTANT TO KEEP WITH YOU ALL THE TICKETS YOU BUY, IF NOT REFUNDS WILL NOT BE VALIDATED!

RULES

Basic rules about respecting each other will be mandatory: be on time, respect the others, clean up after yourself, do not make noise after midnight, follow the accommodation rules, follow the workshops and sessions actively. Anyway, in the beginning of the exchange, rules will be presented in detail.

Serious misbehaviors, such as drug usage, violence, sexual harassment, theft or any other, will result in us calling the police, excluding you from the exchange and not reimbursing your travel costs.

NOTE: travel cost can be partially of fully removed to the people who:

● Do not take part in the whole length of the Exchange ● Repeatedly break the basic rules and don’t react to warnings ● Commit any serious misbehavior

PARTICIPANTS PREPARATION

● Intercultural dinner: it will be celebrated the first night. Participants from every group ​ must coordinate to bring typical food and drinks from their country. This will be the dinner for that day. ● Cultural nights: every day, one country will prepare their cultural night. You will have ​ 30-45 min to present your country through PowerPoint presentations, videos, quizzes, dances, songs, contests, etc. ● Things you have to bring: laptop. ​ ● Workshop: every country group might be in charge of one workshop. The goal is to ​ learn ones from the others since it is a project that intends to improve the execution of youth projects. We also take into consideration that participants are people already experienced in this field. Depending on the profile of the participants, once every group has been formed, the participants must discuss with the coordinator to see which from the many workshop foreseen they want to prepare and lead.
