Highlights Needs

 In November, 45,700 individuals received various WASH services including COVID-19 690k People in need of WASH prevention interventions implemented by 12 services in NW/SW WASH partners namely AFRINET, AMEF, CBC, COMINSUD, EPDA, FORUDEF, GCR, 414k H4BF, IRC, NRC, REACHOUT and Targeted SUDAHSER in the NW/SW regions. 1  WASH partners AFRINET, EPDA and IRC 679k IDPs constructed 129 emergency latrines to be used

by at least 6,400 people in , Ekondo Titi, 52 Kombo Itindi, Konye, 1 and 3 and WASH partners sub-divisions.

 WASH partners reached 14,100 people through $14.7m hygiene promotion sessions while over 4,900 individuals were reached through COVID-19 required for WASH sensitization activities. $14.7  NRC commemorated the World Toilet Day in II and III. During the commemorations, 200 latrine cleaning materials were distributed to households. $0.2M

WATER  At least 1,400 individuals benefitted from household aquatabs distributed by EPDA, REACHOUT and IRC in Buea, Ekondo Titi, Kombo Itindi, Kumba 1 and 3 sub-divisions of S/W region.  Rehabilitation of nine boreholes by Reachout and IRC is expected to benefit at least 4,500 people in Buea and Ekondo Titi sub-divisions of and respectively.  During the reporting period, REACHOUT and IRC conducted three water user committee trainings for 14 water user committee members in Buea, Ekondo Titi, Konye and Mbonge sub-divisions of Fako, Ndian and Meme divisions respectively.  In November, AFRINET supported the formation of 10 water user committees in sub-division of Kupe Manenguba.

HYGIENE  During the reporting period, IRC, NRC and SUDAHSER conducted sanitation and hygiene promotion trainings for 142 Community Health Workers and Hygiene Promoters/Volunteers in Bamenda 1,2,3, Buea, Ekondo Titi, Konye, Kumba 2, Kumbo, Mbonge and sub- divisions.  In Nkum and sub-divisions, AFRINET and H4BF trained 120 girls

SANITATION  In Bamenda 2, Buea, Ekondo Titi, Fontem, Konye, Kumba 3, Mbonge, Muyuka, , , and West Coast sub-divisions, AFRINET, GCR, IRC, NRC and REACHOUT conducted sanitation and hygiene promotion activities that benefited over 14,100 individuals.  NRC supported latrine maintenance and cleaning for 200 households in Buea sub-division, benefitting approximately 1,000 latrine users.

COVID-19  In Fako, Donga Mantung, Kupe-Manenguba and , over 4,900 individuals were reached through COVID-19 sensitization activities conducted by AFRINET, GCR, IRC and NRC.  NRC distributed 200 COVID-19 prevention kits to 1,245 individuals in the Njong, Santa Akum, Pinyin, Mbei and Awing Before communities in Santa sub-division. COORDINATION  The WASH cluster meeting for the S/W and N/W regions was held on 26 November. Among the key outcomes of the meeting was HRP project submission and revision, mainstreaming education in WASH activities and updates on submission of the online activity tracker. GAPS/Challenges • Insufficient funding to implement WASH cluster response activities • Insecurity particularly in the North has slowed down implementation of some planned WASH activities, including COVID-19 sensitization activities.
