On Saturday, July 15, 2017, G. D. Goenka Public School, Sarita Vihar organized an educational field trip to Gandhi Museum and Gandhi Smriti for students of classes III-IX in association with ITIHAAS. The idea was to acquaint the students with the life and the great works of M.K. Gandhi, popularly known as .

Gandhi Museum offered an opportunity to witness the display of a rich collection of original relics, letters and correspondence, all belonging to the Father of the nation. Each picture had an interesting tale to narrate. The instructors from

Itihaas shared many insightful stories and facts about his life and the freedom struggle of India. Students were shown a documentary on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. A wonderful Charakha Session was also organized wherein the students got firsthand experience on how to spin a yarn. Visiting Gandhi Smriti was a touching experience for the students. They were moved when they got to see the place where Gandhiji was shot dead. They asked many questions related to the last days of Gandhiji. They also participated actively in the multi-media hall where there were many hands on activities for the children. They learnt about Gandhiji’s beliefs and principles such as ‘Unity is Strength,’ ‘Believe in ,’ ‘Truth and Non- Violence are the Biggest Weapons,’.

A peep into this Great Mahatma’s life surely inspired the students as well as the teachers. This memorable visit to the Gandhi Smriti and Museum was all on all a novel, enriching and enjoyable experience.
