Brad Miller, Broadcast and Cinematic Arts Graduate

Brad Miller graduated in 1975 with a major in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts, minor in Sociology, and immersion in National Public Radio while attempting almost every job at WCMU-FM imaginable… and then some. News, jazz, and blues were his unofficial studies during his time at CMU. Active in student government, he ran as a candidate for local office on the Human Rights Party ticket and learned grass roots organizing from some of the best activists in the state.

Communications and politics stuck as many campaigns were joined, from passage of ’s Bottle Bill ballot initiative to victories for Governors, Members of Congress, and Presidents. There were many losses as well, but six years working for U.S. Representive Don Albosta led to ten years with Senator Donald W. Riegle followed by his job today as Director of Advocacy and Sustainability for the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA). He coordinates the international organization's government affairs and sustainability initiatives from the trade association’s office in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Since 1985, Brad has supported and volunteered in many capacities at station WYCE. It is part of 's very unique Community Media Center, a multi- platform organization that teaches, problem-solves, and serves the media and technology needs of residents, organizations, and neighborhoods. As technology advances, the CMC is always morphing and, always, “Building community through media!” WYCE can be found on 88.1 FM if you are driving in the area or https://grcmc.org/wyce if you are anywhere else in the world. There is nothing else like it. It is a constant mix of music and information. It’s where cultures come to celebrate and ruminate.
