CWFL Round Up W/C Monday 24th April 2017.

It has been a busy week in the CWFL with semi finals and titles being decided.

On Monday night Franklyn’s and Blacon Youth both booked their place in the final of the CWFL Roodee Web Designs TGMT with 5-1 and 3-0 wins over Clubbies and Celtic respectively. They will now meet in the final to be held on May 6th at Rivacre Road Stadium, home to Vauxhalls FC.

Also on Monday night Crossway had a fine 3-1 win over Athletic in their CWFL Link Up Division Two encounter thanks to goals from Matt McCauley, Lucas Roberts and Phil Goss. Elsewhere Upton JFC inflicted the first league defeat of the season on Sutton Athletic, running out 2-1 winners thanks to a Joe Williams brace.

In the CWFL Monday Night 11’s Andy Simpson, Joe Skinner 2, Josh Robertson 2 and Sam Byrne were all on the mark for Wirral United as they went top with a 6-2 win over Upton Rangers. In the nights other game Bears Paw ran out 6-0 winners over CEMEX with goals from Nathan Mapletoft 2, Todd Reid, Paul Joyner 2 and Danny Chatburn.

The CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division will go down to the last game after both Blacon Youth and Birkenhead Town won on Wednesday night. Blacon hosted Chester Nomads III, running out 6-2 winners while Birkenhead Town travelled to to play their final game on this campaign. The Town finished up 2-1 victors with goals from Dava Bowe and Ian Bennett. These results mean that Blacon now need to beat Ellesmere Port on Wednesday night to nick the title on Goal Difference. Anything less will see the trophy winging its way to Birkenhead. On Saturday Lodge Bar lost their final game to Higher Bebington Kelma 2-1. Mark Lawler hit both for Kelma with George replying for the Lodge. Christleton Celtic enjoyed a 4-1 win over Ellesmere Port Town Reserves with goals from Sam Robinson 2, Dan Astbury and Joe Muir, Tom Anderson hit the consolation for the Port.

AFC ESSAR are the new CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One Champions, finishing the season 3 points ahead of closest rivals Franklyn’s. ESSAR entertained Cestrian Alex, winning 2-1 to secure their first title. Adi Gough was the Cestrian goal scorer. Jordan Jones netted in the 90th minute for FC UBER as they edged a 4-3 win over Eastham Athletic. UBER’s other goals came courtesy of Tom Berry, Paul Joyner and Aaron Rowlands. Ryan Edwards 2 and Jon Williams were the Eastham scorers. Matt Sharp was on target for Rangers as they went down 2-1 at home to Elton Athletic (Jack Owen and an OG).

In CWFL Link Up Division Two Sutton Athletic were beaten for the second time in a week as they went down 3-2 to the ever improving Chester Argyle. Sutton were leading 2-0 at halftime.

In the CWFL Precision Vets Division C Andy Bolton 2 and Jon Brunt scored the goals against Bushell Athletic Vets that takes Mersey Royal to the top of the table.

In the CWFL Friday Night 11’s Royal Flush are top again with 1 game left. They beat El Porto 4-1 to move ahead of Blacon on Goal Difference. They will face Blacon Vets in their final game in a winner takes all clash. In the nights other game Ashton Phoenix beat Countess of Chester 9-4 in a high scoring goal fest.
