At this point Trump is the only one that has much of a Sheriff Joe Arpaio Maricopa shot at 1237 at the convention. All delegates are bound to their candidates for the first ballot, and County, Arizona most for a second; but by the third ballot all delegates become free agents and can vote for whomev- er is nominated. A big clue to the strategy of the Republican Leadership will come when the rules for the convention are adopted. Currently, there is rule that a candidate cannot be nominated at the con- vention unless they win a minimum of 8 states. If that rules stays in effect, then only Trump and Inside this issue: Cruz can be nominated. But perhaps the most interesting speculation is about the strategy of the Republican Leadership toward the two leading candidates. Onward to June. Students are encouraged to become members of the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, the Texas State Guard, the Coast Guard, the United States Merchant Marine, or commissioned officers in any branch of the armed services of the United States. Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program The Texas Legislature created the Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP) to encourage students to partici- pate in Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) programs at civilian colleges. Annually, the governor and the lieutenant governor may each appoint two students, and each state senator and each state representative may appoint one student to receive a conditional TASSP. A maximum of 185 stu- dents may be appointed annually.

Eligibility for Nomination In order to be considered for a TASSP, a student enrolling in higher education straight from high school must meet two of the following four academic criteria at the time of application: •Be on track to graduate, or has graduated high school with the Distinguished Achievement Program (DAP) or the In- ternational Baccalaureate Program (IB); •Have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale; •Achieve a college readiness score on the SAT (1590) or ACT (23); •Be ranked in the top one-third of the prospective high school graduating class.

Thank you everyone for your donations! Our May meeting will be the last meet- ing where we will be accepting donations for our Spring Caring For America Project. We are still accepting all items listed below. This project is making a double impact with not only Car- ing For America, but with also with our Top Golf Fundraiser as well. The more items we have to put together in baskets for the Silent Auction, the better!

I am also holding two workshops to help put together the baskets for the Top Golf Fundraiser. The dates are May 17 and 19 from 6-8pm at Kari Long's residence: 853 Coastal Court, League City, Texas 77573. If you are interested, please let me know. I will provide snacks!

Lastly, we are looking for a few good women and men to help with delivering the items to Bay Harbour United Methodist Church in League City on Tuesday, May 24, at 830 am. The pastor and congregation is so excited about our project and what we are doing for this ministry! (Please insert list with the article that I have sent before.) Literacy

Literacy Committee will continue to take both gently- used and new books and monetary donations for our Literacy Project in September. Please bring those to the May Meeting. We will not have a meeting in June or July and our last meet- ing for donations will be in August. Let's make this year's event even better than last years! Thank you!
