PART 1

00:00 OPENING TITLES – DO NOT SPEAK

00:16 ITW Louis Déletraz, Renault Sport Academy Driver In French “Hi I’m Louis DELÉTRAZ, welcome to Monaco for a very special edition of your Renault Sport Series Magazine!”

00:23 POSTCARD & CIRCUIT MAP

00:24 Voice over Heralded as the jewel in the crown, Monaco’s street circuit first hosted a grand prix in 1929. Since then, it has established its reputation as one of the most glamorous and prestigious sporting events on the planet. Featuring high-speed sections on an incredibly narrow layout, Monaco is not for the faint of heart. With barriers so close all around the 3.3km venue, racers cannot afford any mistake.

01:05 FEATURE: A VERY SPECIAL WEEKEND

01:06 Voice over Every racing weekend at Monaco is a special occasion. But perhaps even more for Renault this year.

01:15 ITW Cyril ABITEBOUL, Renault Sport Racing Managing Director In French “When you love motorsport, being in Monaco feels like a dream given the history and reputation of the place. For years, we have enjoyed a close partnership with the Automobile Club de Monaco with exclusive access to organise very special events. We’ll actually reveal a new exciting car this weekend. Monaco also gives us the opportunity to have the whole family in one place. Usually, we’re scattered around the world in Formula One, Renault Sport Trophy, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, and Formula E.”

01:55 Voice over Besides its F1 return, Renault has launched a new motorsport organisation in 2016.

02:02 ITW Cyril ABITEBOUL, Renault Sport Racing Managing Director In French “Renault Sport Racing gathers all our racing activities under the same banner in two places: Viry-Châtillon in France and Enstone in the UK after we took over the Team. The programme focuses on performance, technology, marketing, and events. Our racing family needed to come together. We can now build the next chapter in our motorsport journey.”

02:31 Voice over The support to the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 remains.

02:39 ITW Cyril ABITEBOUL, Renault Sport Racing Managing Director In French “The series is close to our hearts but we can’t just look back, we need to move forward. We are keen to support the Formula Renault 2.0. I’d actually call it Formula Renault since this is the only single-seaters category we have left. We’ll see how it evolves but we want to keep having it.”

03:01 ITW Cyril ABITEBOUL, Renault Sport Racing Managing Director In French “When you develop a car like the Formula Renault 2.0 you need to think about the drivers, but also the people that are funding it. We need to make it an enticing product. You also need to compete on the best circuits. That’s why we’re here in Monaco. It shows we want to promote the championship.”

03:29 ITW Cyril ABITEBOUL, Renault Sport Racing Managing Director In French “2016 is a special year in many respects. Renault is coming back as an F1 constructor. We first competed in the sport in 1977.”

03:41 ITW Cyril ABITEBOUL, Renault Sport Racing Managing Director In French “It’s also Renault Sport’s 40th anniversary so it’s wonderful to come together in this gorgeous setting to celebrate this milestone. I don’t want to tease too much about Monaco because the TV viewers might be getting jealous but we’re delighted to be here indeed.”

04:00 FEATURE: TAMING MONACO FOR THE FIRST TIME

04:08 #9 (FRA – Tech1 Racing) In French “I have always followed Formula One and been to Monaco quite often. Racing here, in front of a big crowd, on such an iconic track, is just amazing.”

04:25 #9 Dorian BOCCOLACCI (FRA – Tech1 Racing) In French “Forty years ago, Formula Renault was already there but cars have changed. It’s all new for us and tricky because we have no previous references.”

04:38 #6 Bruno BAPTISTA (BRA – Fortec Motorsports) In English “We don’t have any setup data, which makes it really difficult for the team manager and engineers.”

04:51 Lars KAUFMANN ( Team Manager) In English “The preparation is a bit different compared to the other races. It’s a street circuit here, the only one in the schedule, so we try to prepare the drivers to be even more focussed because every little mistake will end up in the wall.”

05:12 #9 Dorian BOCCOLACCI (FRA – Tech1 Racing) In French “We cannot make any mistake on street circuits. There is no run-off area: it’s straight into the barriers.”

05:24 Voice over Unlike BOCCOLACCI, it’s NORRIS’ first time on a street circuit.

05:33 #2 (GBR – Josef Kaufmann Racing) In English “There were a lot of preparations, more than on other tracks. The main things are the simulator and getting to know the track as much as possible with very limited amount of track time.”

05:50 #2 Lando NORRIS (GBR – Josef Kaufmann Racing) In English

“I have a simulator at home so most of the time, I’m doing this. It’s something I enjoy apart from racing in real life. Sometimes, I have a professional like an engineer who comes down to work with me.”

06:07 #9 Dorian BOCCOLACCI (FRA – Tech1 Racing) In French “We watch on-board cameras from Formula One drivers to see how the corners are, how fast these are. We learn a lot this way on how to be ready before getting in the car.”

06:30 Simon ABADIE (FRA – Tech1 Racing Team Manager) In French “In Monaco, it’s more complicated for the drivers to handle the pressure because there is the Formula One Grand Prix and everyone is watching them. They should play it cool and not pay attention to the spotlights.”

06:45 Voice over Indeed, only two hours after the Eurocup race, the Monaco Grand Prix gets under way.

06:55 #6 Bruno BAPTISTA (BRA – Fortec Motorsports) In English “It’s difficult to focus because the Formula One bosses will watch Eurocup. There is more pressure but this is a good thing.”

PART 2

00:00 JINGLE EUROCUP FORMULA RENAULT 2.0

00:05 FEATURE: MEET THE PALMER FAMILY

00:06 Voice over To prepare a first race at Monaco, it helps when your father and brother have Formula One experience.

00:15 ITW #14 (GBR – R-ace GP) In English “It’s great to have them here. It’s the first time I’m racing on a grand prix weekend with Jolyon. It’s quite a strange feeling but it’s also good because he can help me.”

00:34 ITW – Renault Sport Formula One Team Driver In English “I can help Will because he’s never been to Monaco. I’ve done two practice sessions and four years here already. It’s a great track with many challenges.”

00:49 ITW Jolyon PALMER – Renault Sport Formula One Team Driver In English “He is clever guy and can see what I’m doing.”

00:54 Voice over The two brothers are rookies in their championships. But each series comes with its own challenges.

01:06 ITW #14 Will PALMER (GBR – R-ace GP) In English “In Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, everyone is in the same car and only setups are adjustable. We’re on a level-playing field so it’s great for me because we can challenge for the top.”

01:23 ITW Jolyon PALMER – Renault Sport Formula One Team Driver

In English “Will is younger, he’s got a lot more to learn and Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 is a really good platform to do that.”

01:33 ITW Jolyon PALMER – Renault Sport Formula One Team Driver In English “In Formula One, you are in the public eye and you need to deliver straight away, so it’s a bit different there.”

01:46 ITW – Former Formula One Driver In English “To have both sons racing at the same track makes it easier logistically. I can watch them both even if Will is at 08:00am.”

01:59 ITW Jonathan PALMER – Former Formula One Driver In English “It’s a huge pleasure to see how well Will and Jolyon get on. They are always chatting about things, almost in their own language. I’m a bit too old to understand what they’re saying in their jargon.”

02:13 Voice over But rivalry is never very far when you have two racers as sons.

02:26 ITW Jonathan PALMER – Former Formula One Driver In English “When they are driving one of my cars in one of my events then the rivalry is absolutely huge and the friendship breaks down a little bit.”

02:44 HIGHLIGHTS – MONACO QUALIFYING

02:52 Voice over Let’s get ready for the most important qualifying session of the year, given how difficult it is to overtake around Monaco.

03:07 Voice over Difficult start for #14 Will PALMER (GBR – R-ace GP), who spins at Tabac corner.

03:18 Voice over

Fellow Briton and championship leader #2 Lando NORRIS (GBR – Josef Kaufmann Racing) makes a little mistake at Sainte Dévote.

03:29 Voice over Session is over for #17 Alexey KORNEEV (RUS – J.D. Motorsport SRL) who crashes at the casino exit. RED FLAG.

03:42 Voice over Strong pace for #62 Ferdinand HABSBURG (AUT – Fortec Motorsports) at the restart, five minutes later.

03:53 Voice over #2 NORRIS is flying. The rookie sets a new fastest lap.

04:00 Voice over Like #23 (RUS – AVF by Adrián Vallés) and #11 (FRA – Tech1 Racing), most contenders decide to take new tyres. Same strategy for #2 NORRIS.

04:17 Voice over #33 Max DEFOURNY (BEL – R-ace GP) pushes hard. The Belgian ace is P2 but there is another red flag in this 55-minute session…

04:34 Voice over Indeed, #30 Rodrigo PFLUCKER (PER – CRAM Motorsport) has stopped after spinning at Sainte Dévote.

04:51 Voice over As drivers wait in the pit lane, is one of the many Formula One stars who have come to watch the action.

05:11 Voice over Less than 5 minutes left in the session. #62 HABSBURG takes P2 but let’s not forget he received a two-place grid penalty in Motorland.

05:24 Voice over

#11 Sacha FENESTRAZ (FRA – Tech1 Racing) secures P3 in qualifying. But a technical infringement on pace setter #2 NORRIS’ car and #62 HABSBURG’s penalty promote the Frenchman to pole position.

05:46 Voice over seems to enjoy the performance of rookie #11 FENESTRAZ.

05:58 ITW #10 Sacha FENESTRAZ (FRA – Tech1 Racing) In French “Starting from pole here in Monaco is incredible. I did a good lap but I could have had a bigger gap with the others. Now, I have to focus on the race and staying P1 at the start, which is crucial here”.

06:19 CLIP – DO NOT TALK

06:32 FEATURE: CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF RENAULT SPORT

06:33 Voice over Ahead of the iconic Monaco Grand Prix, Renault unveiled an exciting concept car.

06:42 ITW Patrice RATTI – Renault Sport Cars Managing Director In English “We’ve developed Clio R.S.16 to celebrate 40 years of Renault Sport as well as Renault’s return as a Formula One constructor. We’ve taken the engine of the Mégane R.S. and put it in the Clio R.S. That’s 275bhp in a city car. It was no easy feat but we did it. It is the heir of iconic cars such as R5 Turbo, Clio V6, and Spider. We’re totally in the spirit of Renault Sport. We make cars such like the Mégane and Clio R.S. for our passionate clientele that want to use these everyday, and sometimes we do slightly crazy cars like Clio V6 and now Clio R.S.16.”

07:30 ITW – Renault Sport Formula One Team Driver In English “Clio R.S. 16 is quite impressive. To have 275bhp on a small front-wheel drive car and still be fine when you go on power is pretty impressive. Renault has obviously done a good job.”

07:44 Voice over And could there be any better place to put this unique car through its paces?

07:58 ITW Kevin MAGNUSSEN – Renault Sport Formula One Team Driver In English “To drive this car around the streets of Monaco is special. There is no better way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Renault Sport. It’s pretty cool.”

08:17 Voice over As part of the show, the Clio R.S.16 headlined a series of timeless classics, all driven by a star-studded cast of Renault pilots.

08:40 ITW Jean RAGNOTTI – Renault Ambassador In English “My wife and son are my first family and Renault is my second one. I have been with them since 1977. I am delighted to still be part of it in 2016.”

09:02 JINGLE

09:05 END OF PART 2

PART 3

00:00 JINGLE EUROCUP FORMULA RENAULT 2.0

00:05 FEATURE: BRINGING TALENTS TO THE FORE

00:06 Voice over For over 40 years, the Formula Renault 2.0 has brought young talents to the fore.

00:15 ITW Kevin Magnussen, Renault Sport Formula One Team driver In English “The Formula Renault 2.0 was a very important step in my career because it was so competitive. You could really show your talent because you’d be against the best drivers. Everyone has the same tools and it’s very much down to the driver.”

00:39 Voice over Magnussen is not the only member of the Renault Sport Formula One Team line up to have learnt his trade with a Formula Renault 2.0 car.

00:50 ITW , Renault Sport Formula One Team reserve driver In French “The Formula Renault 2.0 teaches you how to drive a single-seater, which is a whole new experience, as well as becoming a professional racer and working with engineers. You need to be very gentle with the car because it moves around a lot because there are not many aerodynamics. That’s a great learning ground for the higher categories.”

01:12 Voice over As Renault Sport celebrates its 40th anniversary, French F1 legend remembers how his racing career took off.

01:26 ITW Alain PROST, Renault Ambassador In French “It’s been exactly 40 years since I took part in my first open-wheel race in Formula Renault. The series gave me the opportunity to begin my ascent on

the motorsport scene. The category is single-make and features drivers with very little experience out of karting.”

01:54 ITW Alain PROST, Renault Ambassador In French “It’s a great series to unearth future racing stars.”

02:02 Voice over From karting to Monaco, the step is as daunting as it is exciting.

02:10 ITW Kevin MAGNUSSEN, Renault Sport Formula One Team Driver In English “The fact that Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 is racing in Monaco is fantastic. I’m quite jealous. I would have loved to do that when I was their age. I’m sure they will enjoy it. It’s a fantastic track; it’s very challenging, it’s a good place to show your talent as well because there are lots of F1 people. It’s a good opportunity for them.”

02:37 HIGHLIGHTS – MONACO RACE

02:42 Voice over It’s raining at Monaco! So the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 race will start behind the Safety Car. #11 Sacha FENESTRAZ (FRA – Tech1 Racing) is on pole position ahead of #33 Max DEFOURNY (BEL – R-ace GP) and #62 Ferdinand HABSBURG (AUT – Fortec Motorsports).

03:10 Voice over After a couple of laps at reduced speed, we’re racing! The entire pack goes through the first corner safely. Great move from #62 HABSBURG who sneaks on the inside of #33 DEFOURNY for P2 at the top of Casino hill.

03:34 Voice over The Austrian is looking very feisty indeed and already all over the back of #11 FENESTRAZ. #33 DEFOURNY and #9 Dorian BOCCOLACCI (FRA – ) are hot on their heels.

03:53 Voice over #62 HABSBURG tries his luck at Sainte Dévote but ends up cutting the corner.

03:59 Voice over #1 (IND – Josef Kaufmann Racing) and #6 Bruno BAPTISTA (BRA – Fortec Motorsports) make contact, while #38 David PORCELLI (USA – MGR Motorsport) crashes at Sainte Dévote. SAFETY CAR!

04:16 Voice over We’re back under way and #9 BOCCOLACCI immediately overtakes #33 DEFOURNY for P3.

04:26 Voice over Behind, great battle between #22 Harrison SCOTT (GBR – AVF by Adrián Vallés) and #12 Gabriel AUBRY (FRA – Tech 1 Racing)… but the pair collides at Sainte Dévote, triggering a domino effect. RED FLAG!

04:45 Voice over The race will not restart, so rookie #11 FENESTRAZ takes his first Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 victory, in Monaco of all places. #62 HABSBURG is a fine second.

05:01 GFX Monaco Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 results Disappointment for #9 BOCCOLACCI. The red flag means the results were set before he overtook #33 DEFOURNY.

05:12 Voice over #33 DEFOURNY closes the gap to championship leader #2 Lando NORRIS (GBR – Josef Kaufmann Racing), who had been stripped of his pole position.

05:23 ITW #33 Max DEFOURNY (BEL – R-ace GP) In French “If Lando NORRIS had started on pole, I’d have to take more risks to overtake him and close the gap in the championship. I had to score as many points as possible without going over the limit.”

05:40 ITW #62 Ferdinand HABSBURG (AUT – Fortec Motorsports) In English “I was looking where I could attack early on and I saw Turn 2 and 3 is quite a blind corner so if anybody is going to brake early it’ll be the leaders. I stuck

my nose in and made it stick. I’m glad the car gripped. Thanks to the team. P2 is better than P3 and I’m really happy we made the move.”

06:05 Voice over The final words are for the hero of the day in Monaco.

06:18 ITW #11 Sacha FENESTRAZ (FRA – Tech1 Racing) In French “It feels incredible to win here. The race was short but it was still really hard in wet conditions, harder than what I had expected. I had a little moment at the first corner so I took it a bit easier afterwards. Nothing beats a victory in Monaco. I’m very happy for the team. They have some experience around and made a top job.”

06:51 GFX Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Drivers’ standings after Monaco Only half the points were scored due to the race being shortened so #2 Lando NORRIS (GBR – Josef Kaufmann Racing), who finished 16th, keeps P1.

07:06 CLOSING CLIP For its maiden trip to the iconic , the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 delivered a great show in the narrow streets of the Principality. See you next time in your Renault Sport Series magazine!
