Activity 1:

1. Here are the four pictures we are going to analyze .

Are there any similarities? List all the features they have in common

( presence of flowers, musical instruments, use of colours…..)

2. The titles of the four pictures are: Ecce Ancilla Domini! – La Ghirlandata - The Awakening Conscience – Ophelia

Try to explain the reason why the painter chose that particular title

( class discussion)

All the answers will be written on the blackboard

Activity 2:

● Look at the pictures (ex: Ecce Ancilla Domini)

We can observe that :

It is a very personal , a radical reinterpretation of the subject

It a realistic work

White is the dominant colour, it communicates the idea of feminine purity reinforced by the lily
