Ford Passenger Car Sales Jump 40 Percent from Previous Month; Total China Sales Up 10 Percent for Year , China, 11 October, 2011 – Sales for Ford-brand passenger cars in China increased 40 percent in September compared to the previous month, with 28,669 wholesale units sold. Ford China sold 385,957 wholesale units so far this year, a ten percent increase compared to the first three quarters of last year. Last week the Racing team clinched the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) title for the third consecutive year.

"China accounts for 60 percent of our Asia Pacific and Africa sales now and will be a leading part of our sales growth in the next decade. Ford's growth plan is now in high gear. By 2015 we will have 15 new vehicles in China that offer a full line-up of high-quality, safe, fuel-efficient vehicles with smart technologies that Chinese consumers want and value," said Joe Hinrichs, chairman and CEO, Ford China, and president, Ford Asia Pacific and Africa.

Ford's passenger vehicle joint-venture in China, Changan Ford Automobile (CFMA), sold 28,126 Ford-brand wholesale units in September, up six percent from September 2010. CFMA sold 233,981 Ford-brand wholesale units in the first three quarters of 2011, up seven percent from the same period last year. CFMA total sales were 34,181 wholesale units in September, and 292,543 wholesale units for the year.

Sales of Ford Mondeo jumped by 37 percent last month—5,791 units—compared to the same period a year ago.

Ford introduced its patented turbo-direct injection EcoBoost technology to China this year, offering its customers up to 20 percent better fuel economy and 15 percent reductions in emissions, a significant, immediate, and cost-effective improvement to petrol engines.

Sales at Corporation (JMC), Ford's commercial vehicle investment in China, reached 149,352 wholesale units in the first three quarters of the year, up 12 percent from the same time last year. In September 2011 alone, JMC sold 15,542 wholesale units.

Ford's strong performance continued on the racetrack, as the Changan Ford Racing Team, powered by a Ford Focus, captured a podium sweep in the sixth session of the China Touring Car Championship's Super Production Class at the Shanghai Tianma Circuit on October 2. This victory secured the team's position as seasonal champion for the third consecutive year, with two more sessions to be held before year end. It also marks the fourth time since 2006 the team has become seasonal champion.

Ford continues to leverage its global assets for accelerated growth in China by investing in its local capabilities. On September 24, Ford and its partner Changan Automobile Group broke ground on a new USD 350 million transmission plant in , bringing Ford and its partners' total investment in China to USD 3.5 billion.
