Saint Ronan’s won 3-2

Having had some time to learn lessons from the Sutton Valence match, the Buccaneers took to the field with renewed spirits and new personnel, in the form of Harry G in goal and Harry T marshalling the defence. A slow start was marked by the home referee’s second award of a penalty against SRS in as many games but Harry’s strong wrists meant that the ball flew up and over the bar. The 9-man squad required some rolling substitutions reminiscent of the Sven-Goran Eriksson years; Jo- seph F had started the game on the sidelines but burst onto the scene with a George Best dribble and a shot which almost burst the net. A second swiftly followed and Saint Ronan's were firmly in charge. The coach’s exhortations at half time not to let the oppo back into the game were roundly ignored as we settled into some post-orange segments lethargy and when the entire defence went on sabbatical, Vinehall pinched a goal back. Archie W restored the cushion before a second Vinehall goal made for an exciting last few minutes. George K and Luka F were energetic and combative in the tackle and overall we showed much more team awareness and passing ability. A good win to get the Bs back on track. Man of the Match: Jo- seph Fuller Colts D Football v Vinehall Saint Ronan’s won 4-0 Despite having not much of a warm up, the Colts started the match with real class.
