The City of Grand Island abides by the Open Meetings Act in conducting business. A copy of the Open Meetings Act is displayed in the back of this room as required by state law. City of Grand Island City Council City of Grand Island Tuesday, September 08, 2009 Council Session Item C1 Recognition of Michael Peterson, Fleet Services with the Public Works Department for 25 Years of Service with the City of Grand Island The Mayor and City Council will recognize Michael Peterson, Fleet Services with the Public Works Department for 25 Years of Service with the City of Grand Island. Mr. Peterson was hired on September 12, 1984 as a Shop Clerk and was promoted to his current position of Fleet Inventory Specialist on October 7, 2002. We Congratulate Mr. Peterson for his dedication and service to the City of Grand Island. The 2009-2010 Budget, as approved by Council, provides for special assessments in the amount of $5.30 per front footage for a total of $26,234 for the 4,950 front footage. Discussion The City Council, in its capacity as the Board of Equalization, is required to determine the benefits of the District and take action on the assessments as provided for in the associated Ordinance. Alternatives It appears that the Council has the following alternatives concerning the issue at hand. The Council may: 1. Approve the benefits for the District and related assessments. 2. Deny the benefits and assessments. Recommendation City Administration recommends that the Council approve the benefits of Business Improvement District No. 4 and related assessments. Sample Motion Board of Equalization: Move to approve the benefits accruing to Business Improvement District No. 4 as presented. Ordinance: Move to approve the assessments as provided for in the related Ordinance.
