HOWE OF FIFE RFC MEMBERSHIP PACK 2021 - 2022 Membership Application Included in this document pack is a membership application form. I ask that you complete the form and send it to me at the Clubhouse. Please include your most up to date email address as this is the easiest and most efficient way of the club keeping you updated with what is going on. If possible, payment by BACS or Cheque would be preferred although cash is acceptable, but payment by card will only be possible when the clubhouse fully re-opens. For those of you electing to pay by monthly standing order or BACS, we ask that you ensure that you give your full name and the ref. number on the President’s letter of your Membership. This allows parents of younger players/members to pay subscriptions on their behalf without confusion. In previous years, a number of payments were received that could not be attributed to an individual because the reference was not recognised, or an application form not received. If you need to contact me or have any queries about the provided information, please do not hesitate to email me. • Playing Rugby for Jordanhill College Rugby Football Club 1958
Playing Rugby for Jordanhill College Rugby Football Club 1958 - 1966 John Henderson ‘The Boot’ Remembers Playing Rugby for Jordanhill College RFC ‘The Boot’ Remembers When I first matriculated in October 1958 at the Scottish School of Physical Education, Jordanhill, Glasgow to undergo a three year diploma course of training in order to qualify as a teacher of Physical Education, I had no idea that some years later my senior rugby career would turn out to be as creditable as it did. Although I knew then that I was a very accurate and lengthy instep place-kicker of a rugby ball, I was under no illusion that my getting a place in the Jordanhill College Rugby Football Club top squad would be easy, nor did I have any notion then that retaining a first choice spot in the 1st XV for a good number of seasons might possibly occur. However, I was aware of the fact that graduating from College was not the end of the opportunity to play senior rugby for Jordanhill, as former students as players were not only considered eligible, but were also deemed essential in order to maintain a fighting chance for coach Bill Dickinson‟s side to compete at the highest levels possible in Scotland. Thus time was on my side, if only I was patient, and prepared to work hard at the game. But first I had, during my student days, to convince mentors Bill Dickinson and George Orr of my potential, and then, if this was accomplished, to provide consistent proof thereafter of my continuing value as a full back/three-quarter and place kicker in the top side in its annual attempts to win the Scottish Unofficial Club Championship and the Glasgow District Knock-Out Trophy.

ISSUE 244 MARCH 2013 Friends of Scottish Rugby July 2015 Issue No. 8 A Word from our President I hope you are all enjoying the Summer although for those of us who live north of the Border sunshine has been elusive at best and there will be no shortage of water or energy for the wind farms for many a year. Never mind hopefully there is much to look forward to and believe you me your new energetic Committee is now fully engaged. Mark you, whether or not the two new VPs anticipated the work load is a different matter which I will leave you to raise with them! Meantime, in many respects it seems we are victims of our own success when it comes to supporting Scottish Rugby. Worthy applications continue to roll in and we have already donated £20k this year. However we have judiciously decided to call a moratorium until we can evaluate the success or otherwise of our vital Gala Dinner which is again being held In the Landmark Hotel on 15th October. Sadly, so far, table sales, donations for the auction and raffle are quite frankly very disappointing indeed. Some might say in some respects that mirrors the political and economic climate. However, please forgive me for urging one and all to reflect again for a few moments on how you might be able to rescue our very serious dilemma. The Gala promises to be a great evening, but without the tangible support of the many rather than the few it threatens to be an unmitigated disaster.

This is the 6th Festival, but this is the first visit to our “Wee County” where I am sure you will receive a big welcome for this now well established event. It is indeed fitting that Hillfoots Rugby Football Club is the host venue for this prestigious Festival that is founded on the spirit of ‘ Fun, Friendship and Fraternity ’ as this Club contributes to the sporting and social life of the community and forges links with France, in particular, through sport. This Festival coincides with Tillicoultry Community Week where the whole community gets together for their week of ‘fun’, and Hillfoots Rugby Football Club play a very important role in this. With up to fifteen teams expected, Clackmannanshire is pleased to welcome so many visitors from around Scotland and beyond and I trust our visitors will leave with fond memories of their visit with us and hopefully new friendships will be forged. On behalf of the people of Clackmannanshire I congratulate Hillfoots Councillor Rugby Club for bringing the event to the Wee County and I wish you Tina Murphy all a happy, successful Festival. Festival Launch The Official Launch of the 6th Scottish Golden Oldies Festival took place at Hillfoots RFC, Tillicoultry on Saturday 25th January, 2014 (Robbie Burns Anniversary).
