Burns Lights up with Sebring Colt... Coming into this year=s Magic Millions Gold Coast sale, Ron Burns of Ronstel Thoroughbreds admitted a pair of colts would be his main targets at the venue. The first, a colt by Fastnet Rock (Aus) out of Rose of Cimmaron (Aus), escaped him on day 2 of the sale, going to Coolmore for A$960,000. Undeterred, Burns came back swinging for the second, and he walked away with a colt by Lot 139 Sebring (Aus) with a final bid of A$450,000 Friday afternoon. Offered by Murrulla Stud as lot 399, the chestnut is out of the winning mare Valda Merceda (Aus) (Hennessy), a half-sister to Group 1 winner Bawalaskana (Aus) (Straight Strike) and Damaschino (Aus) (Last Tycoon {Ire}), victorious at the Group 3 level. The 13-year-old mare is already responsible for multiple winner Sir Hallowell (Aus) (More Than Ready).
