His first CD, recorded Stéphane Tétreault with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, under Cello conductor Fabien Gabel, received the “Editor’s Choice” Denis Plante award from Gramophone Magazine. His second, record- Bandoneon ed with pianist Marie-Ève Scarfone and featuring works Program by Haydn, Schubert and Brahms, was selected as the magazine’s “Critics’ Choice.” (Gounod/Bach/Plante) Stéphane plays the 1707 “Countess of Stainlein, Ex- No. 1: Espejismos Porteños Paganini” Stradivarius cello, on generous loan by Mrs. 1st movement: Zapateo Sophie Desmarais. 2nd movement: Silbando 3rd movement: Preludio Denis Plante, bandoneon Suite No. 2: Noche de Tango Denis Plante grew up in an artistic family in Montreal, Tango for solo cello surrounded by early instruments, costumes 1st movement: Soledad and theatre set pieces. A charismatic soloist, he has 2nd movement: Apache performed with artists such as Diane Dufresne, Gilles Suite No. 3: Mistica Vigneault and André Gagnon. After a stint in Argentina, 1st movement: Suplicaciones he settled in Quebec, where he founded the ensemble 2nd movement: Invenciones Tango Boréal, which serves as a lab for his impression- ist tango creations. He has garnered multiple awards, Suite No. 4: Flores de Nacar including for best song at the Festival international de 1st movement: Flores de Nacar la chanson de Granby and the Creator of the Year award 2nd movement: Flores marchitas from CALQ (Quebec). His productions under the ATMA Suite No. 5: El Rio de la Plata Classique label have twice earned him the Opus Award 1st movement: El Baile de las lanchas for Recording of the Year (World Music). His La 2nd movement: Bibliothèque-interdite has been touring in Canada since Suite No. 6: Tres Cantos y una milonga 2014.
