Athgarvan A0 128-0 1 Ballyroe 02 A0 133-0 1 Brannockstown A0 137-0 1 Castlemitchell A01 16-01 Castleroe West A0127-01 Clog herin koe A0 142-0 1 Kilberry A0120-01 Kildangan 01 A0 140-0 1 Kilkea A01 19-01 Nurney A01 13-01 A0 134-0 1 Rathcoffey (Mooretown Drive) A0 138-0 1 Ticknevin A0124-01

The issue of Appropriate Assessment is being addressed, and in the above cases please note that initial Screening Reports have been submitted to the Agency’s Headquarters on 04 November 2010. Subject to the Agency’s agreement of the recommendations within these Screening Reports, the Council proposes to undertake Appropriate Assessment only where necessary on foot of the Screening Reports.

In the following cases the requests dated 28/29 October 2010 refer to the same issues (Appropriate Assessment) as the Agency’s earlier request dated 07 April 2010 as well as requesting additional site specific further information details :-

Ballitore A0 129-0 1 Calverstown A0125-01 Clonuff A0141 -01 Donore A01 12-01 Kildangan 02 A0121-01 Kilkea A01 19-01 Kilmead A01 17-01 Milltown (Fenview Heights) A01 14-0 1 Milltown (Millview) A01 18-01 Newtown A0 126-01

The issue of Appropriate Assessment is being addressed, and in the above cases please note that initial Screening Reports have also been submitted to the Agency’s Headquarters on 04 November 2010. Subject to the Agency’s agreement of the recommendations within these Screening Reports, the Council proposes to undertake Appropriate Assessment only where necessary on foot of the Screening Reports.

Given the resources at the Council’s disposal, and other existing day to day local authority executive functions, we are concerned that the timing and extent of these requests for further information place what we consider to be an undeliverable workload on our existing resources. It has been necessary for one senior member of our technical staff to take significant leave on medical grounds.

With the above in mind, we consequently seek the Agency’s approval for an extension of time to allow replies to these requests. We are aware of the need to undertake Appropriate Assessment in a number of cases and it is proposed to undertake these Appropriate Assessments for agglomerations 400PE upon agreement by the Agency of the extent of the requirement for same on the basis of the Screening Reports delivered to the Agency on 04 November 2010.

We wish to advise that this will entail the engagement of outside expertise and we are anxious to finalise a brief for services in this regard.

It is proposed to provide the other additional site specific details requested, i.e. those not being directly related to the request for Appropriate Assessment, (IO site specific requests) by 31'' January 201 1. We consider this to be a reasonable proposal having regard to the current workload being undertaken by the Council's technical staff.

We hope that the above is satisfactory. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact Gerry Halton, Senior Executive Officer (Tel: (045) 980550).
