IBM Traveler How to configure your device to connect to your IBM Notes mailbox

The IBM Notes Traveler service provides access to IBM Notes mailboxes for Apple, Android and Nokia devices. This document provides instructions which explain how to set up your Smartphone to retrieve your , calendar and contact data.

General Information The BDR Thermea IBM Notes Traveler service provides downloadable apps for Android, Windows Mobile, Nokia and Symbian clients.

There is no app required in order to use IBM Traveler with an Apple device.

In order to activate the service on Apple devices, such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, a Traveler account profile is created and configured on the device in order to connect to the Traveler server and start syncing your mailbox and calendar. This is much easier to set up than it sounds!

Please follow the setup instructions below for your particular device.

1. Point the Safari browser on your iDevice to the IBM Notes Traveler User Home Page

2. Log into the site using your email address (e.g. [email protected]) and your IBM Notes password.

3. A User Status section at the top of the home page shows the status of the user and any of the user's devices. The following should be displayed if the Traveler service is available, and is able to connect to your mailbox.

If errors are displayed, contact the Messaging Support mailbox for assistance.

4. To continue, select Configure your Apple device.

5. Your Logon Name and Mail Address will be set to your email address.

Do not change these settings, and click Generate.

6. Select Install to begin the profile installation process.

7. When prompted about the authenticity of the profile, select Install Now to continue with the installation.

8. You will be prompted for your password again, enter your IBM Notes password and select Next.

9. When the profile has been installed, select Done.

10.Your new Exchange ActiveSync account has now been created under the “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” settings page.

You can set how many “Mail Days to Sync” here. The default is 3 days, but you can set it to sync up 1 month of .

Your calendar will be synced one month in the past, and one year in the future.

Your IBM Notes “To Do” list does not sync with the “Reminders” app. The To Do list can be synced through another app provided by IBM. Further information will be provided to you after you have

configured your device.

11.Leave the profile page. Open your Mail app to see your new mailbox, and your IBM Notes calendar will also be displayed in the calendar app.

Your request for Traveler access has now been submitted to the Messaging Team.

Your request will usually be responded to within one working day, but if you do not receive an update, please contact your IT Helpdesk.

Your mail, calendar, and contacts will appear on the device when your request has been approved. You will be notified when this has been done. Configuring your Android Smartphone or Tablet

1. To allow the IBM Traveler to install correctly, a small update must be made to the default Android security settings. Click “Settings”, then “Security” to view this screen.

2. Check the “Unknown Sources” box as shown below. This allows apps downloaded from sites other than Google Play to be installed. (You may uncheck this setting after installing Traveler if you wish).

3. Point the Android browser to the IBM Notes Traveler User Home Page

4. Log into the site using your email address (e.g. [email protected]) and your Notes password. 5. Press Configure your Android. This should automatically start the file transfer of the installation file to your device.

(You may need to open the Android notifications view from the Android home screen to see the status of the file download).

6. Wait for the Traveler application to download.

7. Press open to launch the application.

8. If you see the message below, you have not completed steps 1 and 2 correctly. Click Settings to allow the installation of the application to continue.

9. In the following screen, verify that the server name (mobile.bdrthermea.com) is present in the server name field. 10.Verify that your name is present in the User Name field.

11. Enter your Notes password. Click Next.

12.Click Activate to enable the Android device administrator.

13.Select which applications you want to sync (the options are Mail, Calendar, Contacts, and To Do – we recommend that you activate all of them), and whether you would like to store the data using internal device storage or the SD card (it’s best to use the internal storage). The click Finish. 14.The following should now be displayed. Click OK to close the message.

15.The following icons will appear on your Android devices menu.

Open your mail application to see your mailbox.

16. Open the Lotus Traveler app to see the status of your Traveler request.

Your mail, calendar, and contacts will appear on the device when your request has been approved. You will be notified when this has been done. Configuring your Windows Mobile device

1. Open Internet Explorer, and browse to the IBM Notes Traveler User Home Page

2. Log into the site using your name (e.g. Stephen Bailey) and your IBM Notes password.

3. The IBM Notes Traveler User Home Page will recognize that you are using a Windows Mobile device. Click the Configure your Windows Mobile 6.0/6.1/6.5 link, this will download the IBM IBM Installer for Windows Mobile to your device.

4. When the download is complete, open the IBM IBM Installer file.

5. Press Accept if you agree with the terms of the license agreement.

6. When the IBM IBM Installer has been installed you will be prompted to install IBM Traveler. Press Next.

7. Enter the server name (mobile.bdrthermea.com)

8. Enter your Name and IBM Notes password, and press “Next”.

9. The IBM IBM Installer will attempt a connection to the Traveler server and download the IBM Traveler client.

10. When the download is complete, you will be asked if you want to install IBM IBM Notes Traveler. Choose Yes.

11. Press Ok when asked to continue the installation.

12. Once IBM IBM Notes Traveler has been installed it will register with the Traveler server and the Configuration Wizard will start.

13. Choose which applications you want to synchronize to the device.

14. Press Next

15. When configuration is complete press Finish. Press Done, then return to the browser, which you can also close.

16. Open your mail application to see your mailbox.

1. Open the Nokia web browser, and go to the IBM Notes Traveler User Home Page

2. Log into the site using your name (e.g. Stephen Bailey) and your IBM Notes password.

3. Select Download IBM Mobile Installer and Open the file.

4. Once the installation is complete the IBM Mobile Installer starts.

5. The IBM Mobile Installer will start, and start the installation of the IBM Notes Traveler client.

6. Press Ok if you agree with the terms of the license agreement.

7. Enter the server name (mobile.bdrthermea.com).

8. Enter your IBM Notes password.

9. When the Traveler installation is complete, the configuration wizard starts.

10. Press Next.

11.Select the applications that you want to sync and press Next.

12. Press OK. Open your mail application to view your Inbox.
