Because of their celebrity status as boxers, they are both quickly promoted from the street into Warrants and former competitors are now partners. They happen to be in a neighborhood attempting to serve a warrant when the body of a young girl, later called 'The Dahlia' is found. The partners find themselves off of warrants temporarily and working the murder case. This story is full of twists and plot changes and can be hard to follow, but it is all tied up nicely at the end. I found it a bit confusing at some points, but I caught on and it was interesting the way it worked out. I think part of the confusion was that in a graphic you don't get as much detail as you would in a written novel. When I ordered the book, I started to order the paperback, but saw a hardcover copy available to order, so I ordered that. I didn't realize the hardcover copy was a graphic novel until I received it, but here it is, so I read it. I think if you're an avid reader and you love the detail provided in a novel you may not enjoy this edition. But the story is intriguing.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Doesn't quite translate to the mediumBy Leah RI liked it. I followed it for the most part. I felt like the tale was too big for comic books and the characterization was flat.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy Stephen SchickerExcellent graphic study of the novel.

LAPD investigators Bucky Bleichart and Lee Blanchard find themselves enthralled with the mysterious and brutal murder of a beautiful young woman, Elizabeth Short. Their obsession takes a dark turn as they delve into the underbelly of Hollywood and the heart of the dead womanrsquo;s tortured and twisted past. It is a case that will test their mettle and their sanity. This gripping graphic novel adaptation of the bestselling novel by James Ellroy, The Black Dahlia, delves deeply into one of the most haunting unsolved crimes in American history. Acclaimed storyteller Matz (The Killer) and award-winning filmmaker David Fincher (Gone Girl, Zodiac) worked at length to preserve much of Ellroy's original dialogue while bringing the stark images of 1940s LA to full, living color with illustrator Miles Hyman.

About the AuthorJames Ellroy was born in in 1948. He is the author of the acclaimed L.A. Qurtet - The Black Dahlia, The Big Nowhere, LA Confidential and , as well as the Underworld USA trilogy: American Tabloid, The Cold Six Thousand and Blood's a Rover. In 1998 MATZrsquo;s hit series, THE KILLER, with artist Luc Jacamon, made its comic book debut. It became a bestseller that found its way onto the shelves of bookstores in many countries, all the way to the USA with Archaia. It was then optioned by Paramount for a movie that might be directed by David Fincher. MATZ has also created a new line of comic books, Rivages/Casterman/Noir, which are adaptations of noir . But my MATZrsquo;s day job for the last 15 years has been to write for the videogame industry, as he has been an employee at Ubisoft for all these years. Now in charge of the writing department, MATZ has been involved with games such as ldquo;Splinter Cell, rdquo; ldquo;Ghost Recon, rdquo; ldquo;Rainbow Six,rdquo; ldquo;Prince of Persia, rdquo; and the ldquo;Assassinrsquo;s Creedrdquo; series.
