Post Race Update #11 July 25 & 27 2019
Post Race Update #11 July 25th & 27th 2019 A rare Thursday night show saw Billy and the #86 team head to Jukasa Motor Speedway for Round 6 of the APC United Late Model Series featuring NASCAR star and fan favourite Kenny Wallace who would be piloting the #22 normally driven by pro late model veteran Jamie Cox. Billy would be joined by Samantha with her #81 mini stock as she took part in the first ever 35-lap Mini Stock Invitational at the track before heading back up to Sunset Speedway on Saturday for a regular night of racing. Jukasa Motor Speedway: Billy and Samantha arrived at the track under sunny skies and very hot temperatures packing plenty of Nestlé Waters water on ice provided by Northern Ice. Samantha’s #81 mini stock was loose during her practice sessions but minor adjustments were made and she picked up some speed to ultimately qualify 3rd in her qualifying group before getting bumped back to the 8th position after the final group completed their qualifying runs. The #86 pro late model was lacking forward grip over the course of practice and although the team did get the car feeling comfortable for Billy, they continued to make adjustments in order to find that little extra bit of speed that was very hard to find at the large 5/8 mile track. Billy lined up for his group qualifying session and although he would come in 2nd quickest, he would be bumped back to the 12th place starting position out of the 36 cars in attendance by the time qualifying was completed. -

Spring Update March 2019
Spring Update March 2019 The #86 pro late model team have been busy since the end of the 2018 season as they tackled updating their 2013 perimeter chassis to a new straight rail chassis. During the 2018 season, the #86 team was one of the few; if not the only team that was running the old chassis design and although they consistently finished in the top-10 since venturing into the pro late model class, they decided that the older technology was holding them back from breaking into the top-5 on a consistent basis. Discussions started late last summer with Mike McColl from McColl Racing Enterprises to come up with a budget and schedule that would see Mike’s team from London and the #86 team join forces to make the chassis upgrade as economical as possible at the end of the season. After going through the details on how much of the existing bolt on parts could be used, Mike’s team went to work fabricating the steel that would be put on his jig for welding as the Spira team went to work dismantling the old car. With the parts removed, cleaned and serviced, the team took them to London where they joined the MRE team to jointly assemble them on the new chassis. Once assembled enough to load in the trailer, the car was returned to the shop for final assembly and ensure that everything would fit without any issues. There were more than a few hiccups along the way but the team was able to overcome the obstacles and once confident that they were finished, modified their jigs for the front bumper, back bumper and side rails that were considerably different from last years. -

Spring Update March 17, 2017
Spring Update March 17, 2017 The #86 pro late model team and driver Billy Schwartzenburg had a busy winter as they stripped the #86 down to the bare chassis, sanded and then repainted it. Once painted, all components were cleaned and inspected for reassembly and in order to comply with the rule changes for 2017, intrusion plates were made and installed at both the front and back of the fuel cell. The air box was also modified to suit a 1” restrictor plate now required to be run on the carburetor on Ford motors at Delaware Speedway and Jukasa Speedway. The body panels were replaced as required, painted the signature green and remounted on the car with the decals of our returning and new sponsors just in time to take the car to the 3rd Annual Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo in Mississauga from March 11th-13th. The car was proudly displayed in the APC United Late Model Series booth where it was viewed and photographed by thousands who frequent the show every year. The team was pleasantly surprised to be awarded ‘Best in Class’ when they arrived on Sunday before also receiving ‘Most Outstanding Race Car’ later that afternoon. Billy also participated in an on stage panel discussion Sunday morning with fellow drivers Jaxon Jacobs, Chris Mitchell, Shawn McGlynn, J.R. Fitzpatrick, Mat Box, Rick Burbridge, Josh Stade and series founder and president Luke Ramsay. Following his on stage appearance Billy also participated in an autograph session in the APC Series booth where he signed plenty of hero cards and handed out giveaway items from Lucas Oil Products, Wix Filters and GUNK. -
