Leaves Aren’t the Only Things Changing

this Fall at SYR!

Things are looking very different at the airport these days, thanks to the concession redevelopment project.

The most recent locations to open are the Middle Ages Brewery, located in the South Terminal post-security and the CNBC Smartshop, located in the North Terminal post- security.

Middle Ages Brewing Company is the only full production brewery in Syracuse and has been owned and operated locally for 18 years. Their beer is inspired by the British Brewing tradition and all of their ales are handcrafted using only the finest ingredients including malt imported directly from England.

“We were thrilled when Creative Food Group contacted us last year about this project”, said Marc Rubenstein, owner of Middle Ages Brewing Co., LTD. “When my wife and I opened our brewery in we never imagined an opportunity like this would happen. It is great exposure for our brand and our products. Middle Ages at the airport offers passengers a place to relax, grab a bite and a pint, before, after or while waiting for a flight. This is a great feeling as we approach our 20th year in brewing.”

CNBC Smartshop will feature Grab and Go food options, Tech for Take Off, as well as various snacks, souvenirs, toys, and books, magazines and clothing.

The project still has three additional concepts that are scheduled to be complete by early 2015. Johnny Rockets is currently under construction and scheduled to open by the end of the year.

Emergency Response Drill

On Wednesday, September 24, 2014 the airport, along with US Airways held an emergency response drill. The drill was to help ensure that in the case of an actual emergency, every airport employee is prepared to work together in their roles to work efficiently towards minimizing damage, keeping passengers safe, and following proper procedures. Thank you to the DOA/SRAA staff members, ARFF, airline employees, TSA, G4S, and everyone else that volunteered their time and made the drill a success!

Mock Two

Syracuse Hancock International Airport is excited to introduce Mock Two. Mock Two was sculpted by artist Benjamin Entner, and modeled after a kit airplane of a Grumman F6F Hellcat. It is made almost entirely of basswood, with a big red propeller and a giant rubber-band. The Hellcat is a popular model for toy airplanes. Its namesake was a fighter plane used predominantly in World War Two. This is another step closer to an art program that will ultimately include a gallery, where the public can view and purchase art.
