Judicial Extern July 2013 - July 2013 (1 month) I externed for the Honorable Justice Elizabeth Lang-Miers during the summer of 2013. This was an immersive program hosted by Justice Lang-Miers and the Texas State Court Education Program. During my time as an extern, I analyzed appellate cases, and drafted briefs on important issues. Additionally, I served as a visiting clerk and observed criminal, family, and civil cases at each stage of the legal process.

Legal Intern at U.S. Department of Labor January 2013 - June 2013 (6 months) While at the United States Department of Labor, Office of the Solicitor, I assisted the Counsel for Occupational Safety and Health, Counsel for Mine Safety and Health, Counsel for Wage and Hour, Counsel for ERISA, and Counsel for Civil Rights in a variety of legal tasks. I focused on substantive and procedural matters, and analyzed issues/cases for litigation worthiness; participated in meetings with the client agencies; contacted and interviewed witnesses; drafted various pleadings, including, discovery and responses, and assisting the office's attorneys with trial preparation.

Student Clerk April 2012 - November 2012 (8 months) Appellate Judges Education Institute (AJEI)

I worked exclusively on the drafting of documents, compiling of materials, and obtaining of copyright permissions from universities and corporations for the Appellate Judges Education Institute (AJEI), a branch of the . Additionally, I assisted extensively in preparation for and execution of the annual continuing (CLE) seminars co-sponsored by the SMU Dedman School of Law and the Appellate Judges Education Institute.

Summer Research Intern May 2012 - June 2012 (2 months) I conducted legal research for the Dallas City Attorney's Office. I worked in the Community Prosecution & Community Courts section, and focused my research on civil issues.

Research Assistant at UC San Diego June 2010 - February 2011 (9 months) I was an editor for a political science professor's upcoming book on how neurological factors impact voter decisions. I also collected and analyzed data for every election in Oregon over a 15

Page 2 year period, then had the results processed through a computer simulation of a chimpanzee's visual cortex. From this data we were able to successfully predict elections with over 75% accuracy.
