Juegan entendiendo el juego y los angulos, juegan a la perfeccion", fueron las palabras Eddie Casiano, dirigente de la Seleccion Nacional Masculina, sobre el papel que han desempefiado recientemente las "12 Magnificas". POR CUANTO: El buen momento que atraviesa el baloncesto femenino en el pals no es casualidad. Las boricuas consiguieron medalla de bronce en los pasados juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, Barranquilla 2018. El pasado viernes, 24 de agosto de 2018, el combinado nacional conquisto de forma invicta la medalla de oro en el Torneo Centrobasket Femenino, al derrotar al equipo cubano con marcador de 83-54, consiguiendo el boleto clasificatorio al torneo AnieriCztp 2019. Es el segundo oro para Puerto Rico en este torneo centroamericano y el primero desde el 2010. Ademas, de la primera clasificacion en una Copa Mundial en la historia. POR CUANTO: Las "12 Magnificas" sabian que la cave del exito seria no bajar la intensidad, una combinacion de buenas decisiones en la parte defensiva, mucha paciencia en la ofensiva y segim las palabras de su director tecnico, Jerry Batista, iatacar, atacar y atacar! POR CUANTO: Jennifer O'Neill fue seleccionada la Jugadora Mas Valiosa del certamen, cenando con 34 puntos en el juego final ante Cuba.

Sesión Legislativa Ordinaria SENADO DE PUERTO RICO R. del S. 1343 24 de febrero de 2020 Presentada por la señora Padilla Alvelo RESOLUCIÓN Para expresar la más calurosa felicitación y reconocimiento del Senado de Puerto Rico a la Selección de Baloncesto Femenino de Puerto Rico, por su histórica clasificación a los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio 2020. EXPOSICIÓN DE MOTIVOS La Selección de Baloncesto Femenino de Puerto Rico es el equipo que representa a la Federación de Baloncesto de Puerto Rico, en las competencias internacionales organizadas por la Federación Internacional de Baloncesto (FIBA) o el Comité Olímpico Internacional (COI). En la rama femenina, sus logros más importantes son la obtención de la medalla de oro en los Juegos Panamericanos de Guadalajara 2011, oro en el Campeonato Centrobasket 2010 y oro en los Juegos Centroamericanos 2006 y 2010. El quinteto femenino hizo historia al conseguir su primera clasificación a un Mundial tras ganar la medalla de bronce en el Torneo Americup del 2017. Actualmente, Puerto Rico está clasificado en el puesto número 22 en el mundo y 4 en América por la FIBA y es el Campeón Regional tras ganar la medalla de oro en el Centrobasket 2018 celebrado en Manatí, Puerto Rico. 2 Con la clasificación olímpica, la Selección de Baloncesto de Puerto Rico es el tercer equipo femenino de la Isla en clasificar a unas Olimpiadas: sóftbol (1996), voleibol (2016) y baloncesto (2020). El Equipo Nacional de Baloncesto Femenino de Puerto Rico logró en el mes de febrero de 2020 en Francia su primera clasificación olímpica en la historia tras derrotar al equipo de Brasil.
