Watershed: Raystown PFBC Region: Southcentral Priority: 32 General Description: Located in primarily in Bedford County, this 603,629 acre watershed includes Raystown Lake and the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River. The Commission stocks Cove Creek, Bobs Creek, Yellow Creek, Clear Creek, Little Brush Creek, Raystown Branch of the Juniata River, Raystown Lake and Shawnee Lake. Stretches of Bobs Creek, Sherman Valley Run, Cove Creek, Great Trough Creek, and Yellow Creek and its tributaries are designated natural trout reproduction. Portions of three state forests, Rothrock, Gallizen, and Buchanan, are located in the watershed. The watershed is included in the Upper Juniata Watershed Rivers Conservation Plan. The Juniata River Water Trail continues on the Raystown Branch. The area west of Rt. 99 falls within DCNR’s Laurel Highlands Conservation Landscape Initiative. Stakeholder Input: Potter Creek has limited parking for anglers. Additional access is needed upstream of Riddlesburg on the Raystown Branch. A parking area could be created at an open field near Hopewell for the Raystown Branch. Shobers Run needs additional access from Bedford Middle School upstream to Bedford Springs Resort. A Trout Unlimited project is underway on Yellow Creek.
