Research activities Research position Vice-Director; Supervising the “Functional Genomics Group” of more than 65 staff-members (including senior , post-doctoral and pre- doctoral students, laboratory assistants). Research Areas Using genetic and gene-manipulation technologies in mice, zebrafish, Xenopus and humans, we study the molecular basis of: (i) angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis in health and disease; (ii) cardiovascular disorders including hemostasis, atherosclerosis, myocardial ischemia,

systemic and pulmonary hypertension, arrythmias; (iii) neurodegeneration; in particular the role of VEGF in motor neuron degeneration (ALS). Publications The author's scientific output consists of 368 published research papers, and survey articles in peer-reviewed international journals, and 29 survey chapters in books. 27.796 citations.
