2020 LEGISLATIVE SUMMARY OF KEY VOTES Dear City Official:

I am pleased to provide you with the League of Cities Legislative Summary of Key Votes for 2020. This summary includes House and Senate votes on key bills considered this session that were a significant infringement on municipal Home Rule authority or an unfunded mandate. Some bills were heard only in committee, so the entire Legislature did not have the opportunity to vote on every bill. This document also includes an index of all of legislators in order by chamber and last name.

As you continue your grassroots advocacy efforts during the interim, we encourage you to use this tool to have meaningful discussions with your legislators and help educate them on the effect of the proposals tracked in this report. Several of these issues are likely to return in 2021. Further, I encourage you to stay engaged by spending time with your legislators while they are home in the district.

Please continue to use the Florida League of Cities as a resource should you have any questions or need additional information.

“Representative Jacobs was a true public servant and a great friend, not only to local governments in Florida, but to League staff and all her peers. She consistently voted with the League on every issue that was important to municipalities in her district and across the state, and worked with us on developing and implementing our Regional Compact Initiative. She always tried to find the policy areas where widely disparate interests could all agree and Representative succeed. Representative Jacobs was a true Home Kristin Jacobs Rule Hero and will be greatly missed.” October 17, 1959 - April 11, 2020 – C. Scott Dudley, FLC Director of Legislative Affairs
