Round 2 March 8 Sunshine Coast Stadium Youth Women Fire v Western Pride 10:00am Senior Women Fire v Western Pride 12:00pm Senior Men Fire v FNQFC Heat 2:15pm www.sunshinecoastfc.com.au From the Managing Director Welcome to all. What an exciting senior game we had last week here at the Sunshine Coast Stadium! The Fire Senior Men’s team showed us what they can do! The challenge now will be to go on with the job of making 2015 one of the Fire’s most successful seasons. No pres- sure of course! I would like to recognise the great work done by Paul Arnison and Melvyn Wilkes in prepar- ing the Senior Men’s team for the season. FNQFC Heat will undoubtedly be looking forward to giving the Fire boys a footballing les- son. Always great competitors, FNQ will certainly make it an entertaining match. Our Open Women are also in the Stadium today. A lot of hard work has gone into the wom- en’s preparation and I have no doubt Dave Bensted will be out to make the Open Women’s team a force to be reckoned with. We welcome the Western Pride Open Women and look forward to what should be an exciting match. I also take the opportunity to welcome our Fire Youth Women’s team and the Western Pride Youth Women to the Stadium for a great double of women’s football. I hope you have a great afternoon at the Stadium and we thank you for your support. GO THE FIRE!! Email: [email protected] www.sunshinecoastfc.com.au From the Technical Director of Coaching After a dream start for the Senior Men’s team with a fantastic result against Brisbane City I must also give credit and recognition to all junior coaches and players with some excellent performances and results rights across the board. With the boys U12’s – U16’s away to Western Pride we were delighted to hear every age group picked up convincing wins whilst on their travels. Whilst the Open Women’s team and Youth Women had a free weekend from competitive action it was great to see both Dave Bensted and Tom White, coaches from the Open and Youth Women’s teams, set-up in the dugouts for both the U13 & U15 girls respectively, assisting and observing the future talent of our exciting young female players. The U13 & U15 girls both dispatched Redlands United with convincing wins and did so with a great brand of football from both teams. Later in the day our U18 boys kicked off their campaign and after a hard fought game went down 2 – 1 to Brisbane City. Early days and lots of work still to be done. Kind Regards, Melvyn Wilkes Technical Director of Coaching Sunshine Coast FC From the Senior Men’s Coach After last week’s good performance and result from the boys, we will be hoping for a similar game this time around. We know we will have to be at our best against a very good FNQ team who will be looking to bounce back after last Saturday’s defeat to the Fury with some dangerous players who could can cause teams problems. On the flip side, we also have players who can hurt teams, as we saw last weekend, so with some hard work on the training field this week we will be hoping that the players take on board what we are asking of them in regards to this week’s game. Let us hope it is as entertaining as Sunday's game was and we take away all three points again! Kind regards, Paul Arnison Senior Men's Coach Sunshine Coast FC From the Senior Women’s Coach The Open Women's team will be in a positive frame of mind despite losing their opening game of the season to the Gap. A good performance against last year’s Champions saw them lose 3 -2. A close game is to be expected today as we take on Western Pride, who had an excellent result last week against SWQ Thunder. Our Open Women have great intentions to gain a great result. Thank you to our supporters and I hope you enjoy your time today at the Sunshine Coast Stadium. Kind Regards Dave Bensted Senior Women's Coach Sunshine Coast FC From the Youth Women’s Coach This year the Youth Women have worked closely with the Open Women’s team and although I feel we are a little bit underdone to where I would like us to be, this has had a good impact on our start of the season; in result of this we earned a nice 2-1 victory over The Gap. It’s good to see all the hard work paying off and that the players are enjoying their football once again. Once the injury cloud vanishes then we will become a more dominant force going forward. I have high expectations especially after the start we have had. We have worked hard on build up play in the final third and lots of possession work, so I’d like to imagine that when we have the ball we are comfortable moving the ball around in the final third. We have some good new signings in our side and I'm sure that we will be lead brilliantly by our skipper Kirra. The 22-year-old winger will be assisted by Vice Captain, centre-back Rhys Roberts. Kelly was an instrumental component of the Fire’s 2014 squad after moving from fellow NPL Club Northern Fury, which he Captained in 2013. Roberts featured in the Fire’s Under 19s Team during the highly successful QSL years in 2010, 2011 and 2012 while also making appearances for the Senior Men’s Team. He returned to the Fire this season after playing for Caloundra in the local league in 2013 and 2014. Coach Paul Arnison said he was confident he had made the right choice selecting Kelly and Roberts for the leadership positions. “Reyze Kelly is a natural leader who has been with the Club last year, and captained the team during pre-season in the Macron Cup. He was also Captain of NPL team Northern Fury in 2013. I am confident he will be a great leader for the squad.” “Rhys Roberts will provide great assistance for Reyze as Vice Captain. He has great communication from the backline and is also a leader in training, setting a good example for the other players.” Kelly said he was looking forward to stepping into the role ahead of the 2015 season. “I’m extremely happy to have been named Captain and to have been someone Paul has identified as having leadership potential. I’m looking forward to taking on the role and the development both as a player and a person that it will offer me,” Kelly said.
