On January 16, 2009, Alonzo Lee, Sr., became the 17th head coach in the history of North OCarolina A&T football. Lee brings with him a reputation for putting together the fiercest and stingiest defenses in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision.

Over his career, Lee has proven that defense does indeed win championships. Lee has won seven MEAC Championships at four different schools over his 26-year coaching career. At two of those schools – North Carolina A&T and Hampton – Lee served as the defensive coordinator. In five out of the last 12 seasons, Lee’s defenses have led the MEAC in total defense.

Lee is making his second stint with the Aggies. Before returning to N.C. A&T, Lee was the defensive coordinator at Morgan State University for three seasons.

The Bears made significant strides as a defensive unit under his leadership. Over the last two MEDIA GUIDE www.ncataggies.com GUIDE MEDIA seasons, MSU not only finished No. 1 in the conference in total defense, but the Bears also

George Ragsdale, one of the best football players to ever wear an Aggies uniform, has also served the Aggie family proudly as assistant coach. The 2009 season will mark his 11th season as an assistant football coach at North Carolina A&T. This will be his fi rst season serving in the role of assistant head coach. Michael Morand enters his fi rst season as an assistant football coach at North Carolina A&T. He was hired as the co-offensive coordinator, quarterbacks and wide receivers coach. Morand, a native of Decatur, GA., is one of the youngest offensive coordinators in the Football Championship SubdivisionCo-Offensive at the age of 31. Morand Coordinator/Quarterbacks will also have the duties of Director of Football Operations. Morand was selected for 2009 NCAA Expert Coaches Forum in Orlando, Fla., in 2009. The Forum teaches upcoming coaches how to become effective Head Coaches. Morand was also selected to do an internship with the NFL Houston Texans in the summer of 2009.

Fourth Season

Dexter Stroman began his North Carolina A&T football career in 2003. After playing two seasons and redshirting as an Aggies offensive lineman, Stroman decided he didn’t want to wait to start his coaching career. He bypassed his final two years of eligibility to assist former head football coach Lee Fobbs and his staff on a volunteer basis.

Stroman is entering his fourth season on the coaching staff. Among Stroman’s responsibilities is assisting Chennis Berry Graduatein coaching the Aggies Assistant offensive line and (Offense)tight ends. He will also handle other pertinent duties as assigned. Stroman was a member of the 2003 MEAC championship team. Stroman played his high school career at Marlboro County High School (S.C.) where he helped lead them to the 2001 South Carolina Class 4A State Championship.

Brandon Reliford, Third Season

Brandon Reliford begins his third season assisting the Aggies coaching staff. This season he has officially become a graduate assistant for the football program. Reliford will be responsible for handling administrative duties for the defensive coaches.

He will play a major role in how the Aggies scout their opponents. His editing and breaking down of film will help prepare the Aggies defense for the opposing team’s offense each week. Reliford will also assists in the coaching of the Aggie outside linebackers and defensive linemen. Graduate Assistant (Defense)

As an undergraduate at North Carolina A&T, Reliford played four varsity seasons on the football team. He was a three-year starter as a defensive tackle. Reliford earned

Cedric Walthaw (Southern Miss ‘95)

Walthaw will be responsible for designing and teaching strength and conditioning methods to N.C. A&T’s 15-sport varsity Wprogram during preseason, in-season and off-season periods. His primary responsibility will be football. Walthaw came to N.C. A&T after spending the majority of his career at Middle Tennessee State. Walthaw spent 10 years at Middle Tennessee State in different capacities. Before coming to N.C. A&T, he spent eight years as Middle Tennessee State’s assistant strength and conditioning coach.

His main responsibility was assisting football players in training and being the main strength and conditioning coach for men’s basketball. Starting in June of 2006, he took over the head strength and conditioning responsibilities for the MTSU football program for a year. He started his MTSU career as a graduate assistant in 1997.

He worked in that role for two seasons as he supervised and monitored the strength and conditioning training for men’s basketball, women’s soccer and men’s tennis. Walthaw is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association,
