Pasir Ris West

improving PASIR RIS FOR the future We are committed to continually improving our neighbourhood to meet the changing needs of our residents. For the last three years, we have upgraded our estate and developed new facilities and amenities for our residents.

Lift upgrading has been completed for 134 residential blocks in Pasir Ris Covered Linkway from which voted for lift upgrading, to allow residents, especially the elderly Blk 720 to Blk 718A Pasir Ris St 72 and the physically-challenged, to move about more easily. Lift upgrading for the remaining 22 blocks will be completed in one to two years. Lifts have also been installed at 16 multi-storey car parks in Pasir Ris, and we will New Bus Stop at Blk 612 Elias Rd install lifts at the remaining 24 car parks within the next two years. To keep along Pasir Ris Dr 1 our residents safe, we have worked with the Police to install Police Cameras in the void decks of every HDB block. All HDB blocks and multi-storey car parks will have them by 2016. Our Town Council will also be installing cameras in all lifts in HDB blocks in Pasir Ris. We have also upgraded playgrounds and fitness areas for the benefit of our residents - young and seniors. We have completed the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme for the earliest housing precincts in Pasir Ris, and will see how best we can also refresh other precincts in Pasir Ris.

To help our residents get around more easily, we have built more covered linkways and drop-off points that protect our residents from the weather. In addition, LTA will be extending covered linkways to Pasir Ris MRT station from the current 200m radius to 400m, to connect our housing and other developments better. The Pasir Ris cycling network will be expanded by this year, and there are now many more bicycle racks at the MRT station to keep your bicycles secure. We are working with LTA and URA to build new roads, to improve traffic flow within Pasir Ris and to provide greater connectivity to the expressways and other parts of Singapore. We have also added new bus Covered Linkway from Blk 769 stops, improved bus services, and increased the frequency of popular bus Pasir Ris St 71 to POB at TPE routes such as 15, 39, 53, 88, 89, 358P and 359P. Meeting Aspiration, Inspiring the Future .07

inspiring the future Repairs & Repainting works from Blk 500 to Blk 521 Pasir Ris St 52

Opened in late 2011, the Pasir Ris Sports and Recreation Centre is well used by our residents to enjoy a sporty and healthy lifestyle. Residents can look forward to even more Covered Linkway from Blk 633 to Blk 634 Pasir Ris Dr 1 improvements to our neighbourhood such as the new hawker centre at which is scheduled to begin construction around the end of this year. The Pasir Ris Elias Community Club is also being expanded, to provide more classrooms, dance studios, and other facilities that better meet the needs of our residents. And senior citizens can look forward to the new Pasir Ris West Wellness Centre at Block 605 Elias Road. The centre, which will house a traditional Chinese medicine consultation room, is due to complete by October this year.

Pasir Ris continues to grow, with new public and private housing developments, ranging from studio apartments for seniors to condominiums. I am happy to see that many of the residents living in these new developments are Pasir Ris-sians, or their children, who grew up here and have chosen to live near their parents. The Overseas Family School will also move to Pasir Ris later next year.

Even with these developments, we will continue to improve our green spaces and beautify our waterways. Residents and nature lovers can enjoy the renewed walkways and facilities along Sungei Api Api and Sungei Tampines from next year, under PUB’s Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters Programme. We have also renovated the playground at , which is linked by park connectors from East Coast and Changi to Punggol Waterway and Tampines.

I look forward to working together with all of you to build a warm and welcoming home in Pasir Ris for our residents and families.

Transforming the Present In the past three years, the mature town of Pasir Ris has been given an uplift to better meet the demands of the changing demographics of our residents with programmes like the ongoing Lift Upgrading Programme (LUP) that brings lift access to every floor, providing convenience for the residents especially the older folks.

The Neighbourhood Renewal Programme (NRP) has seen new Covered Linkways to Pasir Ris Polyclinic amenities and upgrade of current facilities that will benefit residents of all ages. The precinct which comprises Blocks 405 to 421 Pasir Ris Drive 6 has been selected for upgrading works. Residents can look forward to additional covered linkways, drop-off porches, upgrading of residents’ corners, playgrounds and fitness corners.

Heartland leisure destination Downtown East will be redeveloped to house more retail and dining outlets, as well as facilities such as an enhanced water park for a brand new lifestyle experience. A more vibrant Loyang Point will be coming your way too, as the mall is currently undergoing a series of upgrading works. We have upgraded car park facilities and added new bus services 358P and 359P which allow residents to get around more easily. We have also built two linkways towards Pasir Ris Polyclinic for the safety and convenience of everyone.

punggol north

chasing dreams, meeting aspirations Punggol North has been growing since the town’s Opening of Punggol and Serangoon Reservoirs formation in early 2001. We came up with the theme “Punggol North - My Home, Our Kampung” to unify and unite residents with a common spirit of togetherness. The young and vibrant town quickly took shape with the help of the Town Development Task Force and more importantly, with the feedback and support of you, the residents.

Over the last three years, Punggol North has undergone many infrastructural and social reforms meant to meet the different needs of the residents. Other than routine maintenance works, we have constructed covered linkways to improve connectivity and convenience for our residents, upgraded playgrounds at various precincts to benefit our younger generation and set up study corners and senior citizens’ corners. Projects such as the Punggol Promenade, My Waterway @ Punggol, Sports Hub @ Punggol and the Punggol 21 Community Club were built with the intention of providing our residents with a communal space for a variety of recreational activities.

Senior Citizens’ Corner at Blk 647 Punggol Central

We wanted to build a more inclusive community in Punggol North. With this intention in mind, we saw the development of the Bright Hill Evergreen Elderly Home to cater to the growing elderly population and the development of the HDB rental flats to cater to needy Singaporeans.

More importantly, we have been implementing environmentally conscious initiatives to establish Punggol North as the first eco-town in Singapore where residents can be proud to be a part of and to call it their home. At selected blocks, we have installed Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems as a source of renewable energy and converted Residents’ Corner at Blk 176C Edgefield Plains roof decks to rooftop gardens. We will also be installing PV panels to more blocks in time to come.

You can look forward to more childcare facilities for busy parents, a new shopping mall to meet your retail needs and the Punggol polyclinic to provide healthcare support for all.

We are in great momentum as Punggol North prepares to transform into a 21st century model town. We look forward to your continued support in building our community together. With your help, we are on our way.

The centre offers residents - young and old a space for active living, continuous learning and intergenerational bonding. The centre is in proud collaboration with several organisations such as the Sian Chay Medical Institution which provides Traditional Chinese Medicine services to the residents. Within the Wellness Centre is also the Raintree Sanctuary Silver Ribbon initiative which provides counselling and mental wellness services to residents.

With the support of majority of the residents, the anticipated Home Improvement Programme (HIP) for Blocks 681 to 692 Hougang Ave 4/ 8/ St 61 is expected to commence later this year and complete in early 2016. We are also expecting another batch of the HIP for Blocks 693 to 698 Hougang St 61 which will commence in 2015/2016. The fully subsidised improvement works will include the repair of spalling concrete or structural cracks, the replacement of pipe sockets with new clothes drying racks and the upgrading of electrical load.

Alongside other residential projects such as the repairs and repainting works, we also saw the completion of the Greenwich V shopping mall, which opened in February 2012. The lifestyle mall provides an alternative retail experience and has received positive feedback from residents for its unique village-like concept.

Moving forth, Punggol South residents can look forward to a more vibrant estate through the ongoing Neighbourhood Renewal Programme (NRP) at Blocks 534 to 566 Hougang St 51/52/Ave 8 and the recently completed Lift Upgrading Programme (LUP). There will also be more childcare centres and pre-schools to aid the younger, working families.

Other than a comfortable living environment, we are also cultivating a safe and open atmosphere for feedback through dialogue sessions. We invite you to join us and share your views on how improvements can be made.

The upgrading aims to create vibrancy, strengthen the identities for these centres, and improve the facilities for community interaction. Unique to Hougang, new sala structures with the concept of green urban icons are introduced at strategic locations along the drainage reserve. Besides complementing the existing green environment, the salas provide shade and resting points for the residents.
