Danish Dance Theatre – One of Northern Europe’s leading companies. Danish Dance Theatre was founded in 1981 by the English/Norwegian choreographer and pioneer Randi Patterson, in collaboration with Anette Abildgaard, Ingrid Buchholtz, Mikala Barnekow and soon after, Warren Spears. At that time, the company was named ‘New Danish Dance Theatre.’ The country's most well-known company, Danish Dance Theatre (DDT) proving that is now a well established part of the Danish arts scene and the company enjoys international acclaim.

After a career which included dancing with the Royal Danish , British dancer and choreographer Tim Rushton took over as artistic director of DDT in 2001, playing with the gap between classical and modern dance. Attracting elite dancers from all over the world, each year they treat audiences to a taster of their most popular pieces at the popular open air spring and summer dance performances.

Today, Danish Dance Theatre is the foremost contemporary dance company in , as well as the largest. The company is composed of hand-picked dancers from all over the world.

The repertoire spans from large stage productions at The , to open-air events such as Summer Dance in the Copenhagen Police Headquarters and Louisiana Dance in the garden of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Danish Dance Theatre also does an extensive amount of both national and international touring.

Tim Rushton – Tim Rushton (MBE)* was born in Birmingham in 1963. He studied at Upper School and danced for a number of northern European ballet companies until the mid-1990s. While a dancer at The Royal Danish Ballet he became interested in pursuing a choreographic career and decided to quit dancing.

Rushton quickly made his mark as a creator of contemporary dance, using technique, and by 2001 he was appointed Artistic Director of the Danish Dance Theatre. During the past decade Rushton has transformed DDT into a multi-award winning company. Under his leadership, the company has established an international presence and today enjoys critical and popular acclaim throughout Europe, North America, Australia and Asia Pacific.

Rushton collaborates with writers, designers, visual artists and composers. He’s worked with a range of music spanning diverse genres, from classical masterpieces through to beat, jazz and newly commissioned compositions. Tim Rushton was appointed ‘Member of the Order of the British Empire’ (MBE) in the 2011 New Year’s Honours List in recognition of his services to dance.

Idan Sharabi - Choreographer Born in Israel at the Thelma Yelling Shool of the Arts in Tel Aviv and then attended The Juiliard School in New York City. Upon graduation (BFA 2006), Sharabi received the Hector Zaraspe prize for Outstanding . Sharabi’s artistic ideas are vivid and full as he starts a creation, the clarity and determination of his approach to realize those ideas is reflected in the finished work itself – stubborn, adventurous, dark and whimsical.

Örjan Andersson – Choreographer Örjan Andersson has during his career also created a number of works for major Scandinavian and European dance companies, most recently "32 Variations" for Gothenburg Ballet and "Seven Clues" on Skåne's Dance Theatre. In August 2012 he received the Cullberg Prize from the city of Stockholm. Andersson Dance is an ever-changing constellation of artists who collaborate with choreographer Örjan Andersson. Their base is in Stockholm and has existence since 1996. In the Name of the next song we see dancers from Sweden, Israel and Spain, together with composer and musician BJ Nilsen on stage in a work inspired by baroque painting and our relationship to nature.

Yael Archer – Musician A native of Tel Aviv, Yael Ancher graduated with a BA degree in music and classical flute performance from the Rubin Academy for Music and Dance in Jerusalem. She has lived and worked as a performer, composer, and educator in Copenhagen since 1992. In 2003, she took a certificate course in MAX/MSP, at Harvestworks, New York, and in 2005 she won a Fulbright scholarship to study Composition at NYU and Hunter College. Since she has resided and worked in New York City. Yael Archer is a multi-genre instrumentalist who performs classical, modern, improvisation, jazz, latin, funk and electronic, with ensembles and choirs as well as modern dancers and DJ’s
