This is my first Chairman’s Report since succeeding I am pleased to say that we accomplished this while our previous Chairman Paul Timmins and I take this still increasing our reserves. In total, over $85K of expenses were stripped from our bottom line. These tough decisions allowed us to cover on all our clubs’ behalf the new impost of the state levy, at a cost of approximately $50K. I note this amount is in addition to Rugby ’s National Participation Fee, paid by clubs and distributed to NSW Rugby, taking Suburban’s financial contribution to the State Union to over $180K in 2018 alone. Our financial position also allowed us to continue to invest heavily in our partnership with Fusesport, forging ahead with a ground breaking and well received competition management tool that allows our volunteers to work smarter, not harder. 2 1. John Morrison Not all will get done. NSW Rugby has a number of Chairman affiliates and not all share the same concerns and priorities. But I can assure you the Suburban Board is, and will remain, a strong advocate on your behalf. There are, of course, things we can and must do for ourselves. A priority for the Board will be improving player, spectator and club behaviour – on and off the field. The time is long well past when boorish sideline behaviour can or will be tolerated. The Union will also be setting up a mentoring program for clubs to help them deal with discipline and administrative problems. And holding clubs accountable for the behaviour of players and spectators. We will also be promoting and encouraging Suburban Rugby to embrace Women’s 7s Rugby. Like colts, it too can be a road to growth for your club. 3 Office Bearers Patron: Div 2 Rep: Appeals Tribunal: Dan Moore Dylan Schofield (Beecroft) Richard Harvey (Chairman) Life Members: Div 3 Rep: Paul Angus Phil Brown Michael McGowan (Barker OBs) Phil Brown Mark Groom (Appointed 19/3/18) Matthew Payne Brent Halligan Div 4 Rep: Philip Sutherland Damian Henry Angus Bruxner ( Harlequins) Alan Jones Div 5/6 Rep: Integrity Committee Graeme Kennan Laura Sturrock (Merrylands) Graham Gorrie (Officer) Mick Kennedy (Appointed 19/2/18) Deb Coulthard Dan Moore Ordinary Members: Tim Waddell Rick Morris Geoff Granger (Drummoyne) Ivan Yau Gary Patterson Wayne Ryan (Epping) NSW Rugby General Manager, Ian Ross Judiciary: Community & Participation: Board Members: Mark Groom (Chairman) Mark Green President: Pat Barrett (Deputy Chairman) Premiership Competition Chris Moloney (Blue Mountains) Sam Atkinson Manager: Chairman: Deb Coulthard Kerry Brady John Morrison (UNSW) Tim Litherland Treasurer: Craig Moran Juniors Competition Manager: Graham Short (Terrey Hills) John Sciberras Adrian Larson Executive Director: Jim Smith Juniors Competition Tim Richards Ken Stanton Administrator: Div 1 Rep: Ross Stewart Susan Stenning Michael Flude (Mosman) Ivan Yau
