Finland and the Finnish Federation for Recreational Fishing (FFRF) are honored to hereby extend our official invitation for the FIPSed 12th World Ice Fishing Championship. The competition is to be held in the town of Kuopio on March 22.-30. 2015 and we hereby cordially invite you to compete in these Championships. This invitation is open to all by the FIPSed recognized member nations and national fishing federations.

There you can find information regarding the fishing ground, a detailed schedule for the event and also some information regarding tourism in Kuopio. Finland, the Finnish Federation for Recreational Fishing (FFRF) and the town of Kuopio are honored to host the first WIFC ever to be held in our country. We certainly will try our very best to make this WIFC an exciting one and we look forward to meet each and all of you in Kuopio!

Venue Information – Kallavesi, Kuopio The official fishing ground for the 12th WIFC will be the lake of Kallavesi. The surface area of Kallavesi is 472,76 km2 and the average depth is about 8,9 meters. The deepest spot is 75 meters. There are some currents, as the waters from Kallavesi eventually run into the . The lakebed is diverse, consisting of mud, sand, silt and clay. Further information regarding the fishing ground will soon be posted online at www.mormyshka2015.com. The competition sectors will be placed close to the center of Kuopio, on fishing grounds with a depth ranging between 2-6 meters.

Hotel IsoValkeinen lies about 6 kilometers from the official fishing ground and will provide lodging, dining and ceremony facilities for said event.

The venue of the Championship

The placing of sectors will commence after the making of the skiing and skating tracks. Please note that it is strictly forbidden to drill holes in the ice nearer than 50 meters from these tracks. An updated map will be available before the Championships.

Fish and Fishing Information – Kallavesi, Kuopio

Species

Kallavesi holds a large variety of species, the most common being:

• Roach (Rutilus rutilus) • Perch (Perca fluviatilis) • Ruffe (Gymnocephalus cernuus) • Bream (Abramis brama) • Whitefish (Coregonus lavaretus) • White bream (Abramis bjoerkna) • Bleak (Alburnus alburnus)

Other species are:

• Pikeperch (Sander lucioperca) • Northern pike (Esox lucius) • Ide(Leuciscus idus) • Vendace (Coregonus albula) • Brown trout (Salmo trutta) • Salmon (Salmo salar)

Catch limits and minimum length There are no actual catch limits, but pikeperch (Sander lucioperca) must be 42 centimeter or longer, smaller specimens must be released back into the water immediately. Brown trout and salmon must be at least 60cm long. Failing to return smaller specimens of these species will result in disqualification and is also punishable by Finnish law.

Maximum Amounts Of Groundbait And Bait Two (2) liters of groundbait and one (1) liter of baits, of which a maximum amount of 0,5 liter may be bloodworms. Other available baits include maggots, jokers and possibly worms.

Team Composition

WIFC Official Team Composition • a maximum of 6 competitors (5 primary + 1 reserve) • 2 Coaches • 1 Team Manager

Non – Official Team Support Personnel, Media and Others Teams are allowed to bring additional support personnel, in addition to the WIFC Official Team.

Participation fees

Option 1 The FIPSed fee is 150 euro per team. The registration fee is 1200 euro per team, and it includes the opening and closing banquets, awards, fishing permits, insurance, souvenirs and other organizational charges. The personal charge is 65 euro per person and day for the official athletes in the national delegation (a maximum of 9 persons) and this charge includes accommodation and the caterings stated in the official schedule (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and transport services (transfer from Kuopio or railway station to the hotel in Kuopio and back, daily transfer by bus from the hotel to the competition area and back), medical aid, excursion, insurance policy and other organizational charges. For any accompanying persons during the official program of the Championship the fee will also be 65 euro per person and day, but the fee does NOT include the opening and closing banquets. Banquets for accompanying persons will be 55 euro per banquet and person, a total of 110 euro for both.

In order for the organizer to ensure the transfers of the participants of the Championship, it is necessary to fill in the application form in question (transfers from the airport /railway-station to the hotel) and submit it to the secretary of the 12th WIFC Marcus Wikström no later than 15th of February 2015; [email protected].

It is possible for members of the national delegations and accompanying people to book extra accommodation and catering for additional days before the date mentioned in the official program.

Option 2 The FIPSed fee is 150 euros per team. The registration fee is 1200 euros per team. The fee includes the opening and closing banquets for maximum 9 persons, awards, fishing permits, insurance, souvenirs and other organizational charges. By choosing this option, the national team will have to book the accommodation and catering as well as all transportations on their own. The cost of one banquet for any additional person (exceeding 9 persons) will be 55€, two banquets will be 110€.

All payments shall be made directly via bank transfer (in euros) to the bank account presented by the organizers. Please make sure you mark the payment with the name of your country team, for example: “Russian team”, “Swedish team” and so on.

Please note! The organizers can arrange bus-transports from Hki-Vantaa airport to the hotel in Kuopio at a cost price. All the teams that require transport should submit this information by e-mail to [email protected] no later than 15th of February 2015!

All teams that require visas for their travel to Finland, please remember to apply for these well in advance of the competition!

Each country should bring their national flag and a CD with its national anthem to the first Captains Meeting.

Incidental costs while in Kuopio, Finland The organizers recommend additional money for food, incidentals and shopping while in Kuopio. Bus transportation will be provided from the hotel to central locations advantageous to tourism. Beyond this, public transportation (train or taxi) costs are the responsibility of each attendee.

Official Championship Tournament Information The official dates for the World Ice Fishing Championship 2015 are 25. – 29.3.2015 and the FFRF is the official host. You are welcome to visit the official website at www.mormyshka2015.com, where you – among other things – can find the updated rules for the WICF. The schedule of events is presented in the official timetable below.

Monday 30.3.2015 – Travel to Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport NOTE: Teams requiring early departure must coordinate this requirement with the WIFC organizing committee NO LATER THAN 15.2.2015 to arrange for transport to Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport. Teams requiring late departure on Tuesday 31.3.2015 must also coordinate with the Organizing Committee and will be required to pay the additional night lodging fee.
