Web: WIWI.morrisoobmw.ie --~ It is my privilege as chainnan of the County Board to welcome you all 10 Leahy Park, Cashel for what promises to be a great football day. First of ali I would like to wclcomc the panicipants in the se ni or final, who will be endeavouring to cmulate the men of 2005 who captured the O'Dwyer trophy for the first time and Galice Rovers whose lasttitic wa~ blLCk in 1981, Both teams had 10 battle to reach th is stage of the competi tion with Cahir coming from behind Moyle Rovers in the dying minutes to carve out a memorable one point victory in their semi-fin al. The Galtce boys victory was equally hard earned as in their semi-fi nal with grelLt ri\a1s and neighbours Aherlow they found themsehes nine points in lIrrears after fifteen minutes but they fought back to win by a three point margin, Everything is set for what should be a great final and in a year when football has made great progress in the count y may the cont est li ve up to expectati ons.

The cunain raiser will see Clonmcl 6g and Kilcash battle for the intermediate titlc which will be a repeat of the South final whcn the town boys had a one point victory. There is no doubt but today's pairing represents the beM two tcams in thc gradc in the county and an addcd bonus for the victors will be sen ior status for 2009,

Sadly since the South final selector Will iam Robinson will be ab~nt from the Kilshcelan Kilcash management tcam but I have no doubt but he will be present in spirit and his sad loss will undoubtedly spur the mcn from the beautiful village to bring bacl the trophy after a number of near misses, Great credit is due to 6g for reachin~ the final and with their impressi\e run to date will be sl ight favourites to capture the title. May the best tcam win. " Thc Loughmorc- men who won county senior titlcs in football in 1973, 1977, 1979 and 198] arc being honourcd today councsy of "The Nationalist" and "Tcmplemore Arm~ Hotel", On behalf of thc County Board [ would like to welcome the Loughmorc-Castleiney teams and sincerely thank the generous sponsors and hope they all have a most enjoyable day,

To the Cnshel King Connacs club. our hosts today I would like to thank you for the exce llent organisa ti on that you put into preparing for occasions lile today and I hope eveT) lhing goes ","ell for you,

Finally I would like to wish John Kell y the best of luck as mo lt oir in senior final and Paddy Russel l who will rcfcree the imerrnediatc fi nal. I hope that Paddy will continuc for many years to comc 10 officiate at our domestic games cven though he has blown "Thc Final Whistlc" on his intereounty career. [n conclusion I would like to congratulate Paddy on his wonderful book and also the author Jackie Cahill . I hope it will ge nerate an eX Ira few bob for you both that"," ill be some small compensation for your remarkable contribution to the Gaelic Athlctic Association o\'er the years. Prop: Nellie O'Halioran Tel: 062 54218 jtW f2 During the 1950s and 1960s, the most successful era of Cahir G. A. A. (known then as "Cahir Slashers"), there were many fine foot bailers in the club. Howe\'er, one of the finest was Tom Walsh of Ballymacadam. Tom won many honours with the club, for whom, he usually played in the half-back line.

Tom was on the first juvenile team to win a football title in 1950, along with his brother Eamon. In 1953, Tom starred on the minor team that won the county for the first rime. That year is best remembered for the four games it took to win the South final against CIon mel Commercials.

Tom's talent was recognised by the county minor selectors and he played in 1954 and again in 1955, at centre-back, when Tipperary won the Munster and were unlucky to lose to Dublin in the All- Ireland final.

Tom went on to win county junior football titles with Cahir in 1955 and 1958 and was a key figure in the Cahir team that won the club's first Somh senior title in 1959.

Tom was a regular on the Tipperary senior football team and had the distinction of playing centre-back for Munster in the Railway Cup in 1959. Tom continued to play for Cahir right up to the late 60s.

All Tom's brothers Eamon, Pat, Scan, Michael, Willie R. !. P, and James were integral pans of many Cahir football teams.
