HBO original film NATIVE SON, based on the classic novel by Richard Wright, debuts on April 8 on HBO

Ashton Sanders, Margaret Qualley and Nick Robinson bring the classic story to life, through the eyes of visual artist Rashid Johnson, in his directorial debut.

From Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Suzan-Lori Parks, NATIVE SON tells the story of Bigger Thomas (Ashton Sanders), a young African-American living in Chicago who is hired as a chauffeur for affluent lawyer Will Dalton (Bill Camp, Emmy®-nominee for HBO’s THE NIGHT OF). As Bigger enters this seductive new world of money, politics and power — including a disastrous relationship with Dalton’s daughter, Mary (Margaret Qualley, HBO’s THE LEFTOVERS), and her boyfriend, the radical, leftist political leader, Jan (Nick Robinson, from Love, Simon) — he faces unforeseen choices and perilous circumstances that might change the bright future of a talented young man.

The cast also includes KiKi Layne, Elizabeth Marvel, David Alan Grier and Sanaa Lathan.
