Race 4

1. A'ALI - Simon Crisford has produced this son of Society Rock to win the Norfolk and Robert Papin on his last two runs and will take the beating again today 2. GOLDEN HORDE - Much improved to take the Group Two Richmond stakes at Glorious Goodwood last time. Has to be taken very seriously here now after that huge run 3. EARTHLIGHT - Scored narrowly on debut but has put up two breathtaking performances since at this venue and crushed the opposition in Group Three here last time 4. ROYAL DORNOCH - Aidan O'Brien sends this three times raced maiden over but has nearly four lengths to make up on Golden Horde from the Richmond last time out 5. ARIZONA - Beat the subsequent Richmond winner, Golden Horde, into fifth place when showing big turn of foot to win the Coventry at Royal Ascot. Big shout here 6. DEVIL - Just the sole start which came in a newcomers event at this venue last month and was most impressive with a smooth victory. More to come for sure 7. RAFFLE PRIZE - Mark Johnston is in flying form as usual and so is this filly who scooted up in the Duchess Of Cambridge at Newmarket last time to bring up her hat trick 8. AROHA - Placed in all five runs including the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and also in hot Group event back there last time. Surely the best maiden around

Summary

One of the best races in the entire calendar and always so eagerly awaited by all racing followers around the globe. This is an absolutely vintage renewal. There are only two home defenders to fend off the high class challengers. The Andre Fabre trained unbeaten son of Shamardal, (3) EARTHLIGHT, blitzed his rivals in the Prix Cabourg here last time and can keep the coveted prize at home. (5) ARIZONA looks best of the raiders of which they are all extremely useful. (1) A'ALI and (7) RAFFLE PRIZE should also be in the mix.

Selections

(3) EARTHLIGHT - (5) ARIZONA - (1) A'ALI - (7) RAFFLE PRIZE

Race 5

1. WORTH WAITING - Improved massively through the handicap ranks for her British trainer culminating in a Group Two win at Newmarket in May. Not so good last time 2. RED TEA - More or less exposed as a seven time winning handicapper before much improved to win a Group Two at the Curragh last time. This is tougher still 3. I CAN FLY - Very classy performer from the Aidan O'Brien camp and at the very highest level where she has gone close several times. Must have a massive chance here 4. - John Gosden will be hoping that this high class mare can back up her last time out big success in the Grand Prix de Saint Cloud and will go close again 5. WILD ILLUSION - A brilliant high class filly on her day. Thrice a Group One winner. A bit below par in last two runs but could come bouncing back here today and win 6. MUSIS AMICA - Lightly raced with just the six starts. Won on her first two starts. Runner up in the Prix de Diane last year. Runner up in both Listed runs this year 7. SPIRIT OF NELSON - A five time scorer from fifteen runs and broke through at Listed level here last time after many tries. This will be much tougher and is passed over 8. WITH YOU - Another high class Group One winner and was so impressive in last seasons . Close runner up in that again to last time. Noted 9. NISREEN - Very lightly raced individual winning half of her eight outings. Fourth in Group Three when last seen in November and may find this a bit too strong

Summary

An excellent renewal of this great race, the . The raiders from Britain and Ireland have been taking all before them this season and this looks booked for export too. It may be the case that (5) WILD ILLUSION may bounce to form having been a little below par in her last few efforts but it is worth noting that all of her previous successes have come from August onwards so her time may be coming. (4) CORONET will be the likely favourite and difficult to beat. (3) I CAN FLY will be challenging late while (8) WITH YOU may be the best of the home brigade.

Selections

(5) WILD ILLUSION - (4) CORONET - (3) I CAN FLY - (8) WITH YOU

Race 6

1. CALL THE WIND - A three time winner from ten runs. Won the Prix Du Cadran last year and four placed efforts this term. Time to deliver now 2. MILLE ET MILLE - Former winner at the highest level from ordinary beginnings and still capable of a big run 3. PALPITATOR - Thrice a winner from sixteen runs including last time out at this venue in a Listed content. Such a consistent animal 4. KHAN - German raider who was a surprise winner of the Prix Von Europa last season but has not repeated that form 5. HAKY - A three time winner from a dozen runs including last time at Compiegne. This is a step up though 6. PALLASATOR - Formerly very nice on the level before embarking on a hurdling career. Runner up at Royal Ascot last time in Queen Alexandra 7. MARMELO - High class three time winner from elven runs. Runner up in Melbourne Cup last year and in this race also 8. LILLIAN RUSSELL - A four time scorer from ten runs and has a strong turn of foot. Behind Palpitator and Mille Et Mille last time 9. LINE DES ONGRAIS - Has been successful seven times from twenty nine. Well beaten fifth behind several of these here last time

Summary

One has to say that (1) CALL THE WIND has been a tad disappointing since collecting the Prix Du Cadran last backend in such taking fashion. Admittedly, the Frankel gelding has been placed in all four subsequent runs and at Group level but the spark has not been there. That may all change here however with the yard now resurgent and with all his three wins coming from August onwards last season he maybe prefers this time of year. (7) MARMELO needs no introduction and will take the beating. (3) PALPITATOR and (2) MILLE ET MILLE for minor honours.

Selections

(1) CALL THE WIND - (7) MARMELO - (3) PALPITATOR - (2) MILLE ET MILLE

Race 7

1. GEORGE THE PRINCE - Has won two from nineteen but surely cannot be fancied in current poor form so overlooked again 2. SOSUME - Placed four times in Britain and a winner since joining this up and coming trainer in this country from five runs. Very much one for the shortlist 3. DREAM LIFE - One success from nine runs and seems very consistent in the main. Placed in last two here and a contender for this 4. ACHILLE DES AIGLES - Last two wins made it five from thirty seven and could well get the hat trick today 5. BEYOND MY DREAMS - Four time winner from twenty two including penultimate start at Marseille Borely. Fifth here last time 6. MANDOLIN WIND - A two time winner from twenty one runs. Finished thirteenth last time at Clairefontaine so must bounce back 7. MATISTA - One win from a dozen starts and has been performing well enough of late to have a chance 8. BLUE TANGO - Half a dozen wins from twenty eight runs including at Chantilly last time so in form 9. TALLINSKI - A dual winner from many runs in Britain and one score from nine in this country. A bit to prove 10. MARVELLOUS NIGHT - Remains a maiden after thirty runs but has placed on several occasions. Work to do 11. XENOPHANES - Eight time victor from seventy seven runs. In good enough form this season and fourth at Vichy last time 12. CANOUVILLE - Five wins from two dozen starts. Runner up in two of last three but only twelfth at Saint Cloud last time 13. TENORIO - Half a dozen wins from sixty five outings including at Dieppe last time out. In form candidate 14. GONE SOLO - Two victories from two dozen runs. MONTALBAN - A fifteen time winning veteran whose light may eventually be dimming at this point 18. NEVER WITHOUT YOU - A long standing maiden after forty four runs and such types are always best left alone

Summary

A huge field go to post here for this three year old and up contest. It is totally open as one would expect so bets should be kept on the low side. (3) DREAM LIFE is still somewhat unexposed having only had nine runs. The Authorized filly has more to give and might just do this. (5) BEYOND MY DREAMS and (1) GEORGE THE PRINCE can go well along with the improving (2) SOSUME and also (6) MANDOLIN WIND.

Selections

(3) DREAM LIFE - (5) BEYOND MY DREAMS - (1) GEORGE THE PRINCE - (2) SOSUME - (6) MANDOLIN WIND

Race 8

1. CAPCHOP - Seven time winner from thirty nine but last few efforts here are poor 2. DUQUESA PENGUIN - Four time winner from fifty but recent form is of serious concern here 3. DIXIT CONFUCIUS - Off the mark at Chantilly in May. Eight starts in total but current form is very poor 4. WOOLDIX - A three time winner from thirty three. Runner up here two starts back and the back again for a sixth last time 5. CADORINO DES PLACE - Remains a maiden after fourteen runs but was third here last time out so every chance here 6. RISK MAJOR - Four time winner from forty and did it nicely in a Vichy claimer last time out 7. KOUTSOUNAKOS - Has won two times from twenty three but well down the field here last time 8. WIKITA - A five time winner from fifty seven. Runner up twice earlier in the year but poor here last time 9. CALAF - Half a dozen wins from forty eight runs. Well down the field here in last two runs 10. EN DANSANT - Just the one victory from nineteen runs. Fifth here last time out and has some recent fair form as well 11. MAHARAD - Eight time winner from fifty four. Seasonal reappearance at Dieppe was very poor 12. FRENCH BERE - A triple winner from twenty one runs. Another one struggling for form

Summary

This qualified riders race has not attracted much quality. Recent good form is a premium for most of these with just a couple of exceptions. The maiden, (5) CADORINO DES PLACE, is one of them and this one threatened strongly over this course and distance last time out and maybe ready to deliver now. (6) RISK MAJOR is also in good heart having won a claimer at Vichy last time and must be noted. (10) EN DANSANT and (4) WOOLDIX have smaller chances.

Selections

(5) CADORINO DES PLACE - (6) RISK MAJOR - (10) EN DANSANT - (4) WOOLDIX

LE MONT-SAINT-MICHEL - 18th August

Trainer of the day : Franck Anne (414, 512) Jockey of the day : Yoann Lebourgeois (107, 205, 411, 508, 612, 705, 806) Horse of the day : Chaud Devant (806) Dark Horse : Banco de Madker (313)

Race 1

1. FIESTA DE LARCY - Has shown the limit of her capacity in both codes and can be written off 2. FENG SHUI - As delicate as they come but has merit and with stride in check should not be too far off the mark 3. FLEUR CHAMPETRE - No slouch on a good day but better a level down and present form unsure 4. FIFALINE - Debuted respectably in the discipline last month following a long absence. Will have come on for the run and can get a look in 5. FESTIVAL GEMA - Decent sort that imposed in good order at Graignes recently. Ideally positioned in front and can apply the pressure on (11) FLICKER BOTEURMOEL 6. FALKO DE TINAL - Produced some good efforts earlier in the year but has since gone off the boil and must reaffirm 7. FRIBUSTE DU CORBON - Just once out of first four in last five starts. Caught the eye at Carentan two weeks ago and looks competitively well in 8. FELINE SPEED - Delicate but otherwise a quality element. Was by no means disgraced at Cabourg recently and on better behaviour can make the frame 9. FEE DE CERISY - Unplaced in only start in the discipline. Not at his sharpest these days and can be passed over 10. FEERIE DES VENTES - Very disappointing for the past six months and has no realistic chance 11. FLICKER BOTEURMOEL - Serious sort that has twice gone close of late. Benefits from a superb entry and can have his way this time

Summary

Runner-up in two of his last three Franck Leblanc could not have hoped for a better entry for (11) FLICKER BOTEURMOEL who looks the pick of this field. (5) FESTIVAL GEMA recently opened his account at Graignes though and is 25m better off. (8) FELINE SPEED was sanctioned when full of running at Cabourg last time but with application can more than make amends. Confirmed under these conditions and presently enjoying a good run (7) FRIBUSTE DU CORBON similarly has the wherewithal to get in on the action.

Selections

(11) FLICKER BOTEURMOEL - (5) FESTIVAL GEMA - (8) FELINE SPEED - (7) FRIBUSTE DU CORBON

Race 2

1. GUINNESS FLORE - Yet to show any aptitude for the game but has had time to get her house in order and could pleasantly surprise 2. GOBELINE - Struggled earlier in the summer but has since found her way. Steps up in category but is not incapable of making the frame 3. GRACIOSA TEJY - 13 races and yet to get off the mark. Has no references at this level and not a priority 4. GALLA DE MANCHE - Won on debut before finishing second when stepped up in class and has every chance of making the frame 5. GAMA BOURBON - Winner of first two before disappointing here next time. Returns fresh with Lebourgeois in the wagon though and can win this 6. GINA BERGIL - Pleased on comeback at Graignes but disappointing in two since and needs to find more 7. GALAXIE DU JUILLE - Showed early potential but has failed to make good on her promise. Well beaten last time and no threat 8. GREAT TIGRESS - Quality element that opened her account last month. Stays clockwise and in similar form will have her chances 9. GALAXIE DE TILLARD - Yet to get off the mark but has ability. Beaten when sanctioned last time but returns to racing clockwise and can get back in the game 10. GIGA DES PLAINES - Handy sort that gave a respectable account on return at Cabourg. Will have come on for the run and can go closer this time

Summary

Winner of her first two (5) GAMA BOURBON was surprisingly below par here last time out. She has had time to recuperate though and with Lebourgeois in the sulky can make amends. (8) GREAT TIGRESS got off the mark in excellent order at Angers a month ago and should be good enough to give Guarato's filly something to consider. Solid in both public appearances so far (4) GALLA DE MANCHE steps up in distance but still looks a player. Lepigeon appears to have found the key to (2) GOBELINE who imposed in style at Portbail and she can again trot her way into the money.

Selections

(5) GAMA BOURBON - (8) GREAT TIGRESS - (4) GALLA DE MANCHE - (2) GOBELINE

Race 3

1. AFRIKANDER - Has struggled with form for some time. No fan of Le Mont but has an excellent entry and going barefoot must be afforded respect 2. BLUES DES MATELOTS - Blows hot and cold but twice a winner already this summer. Arguably better on turf but one to note all the same 3. COUM BA A PANJAS - Regressive profile but no slouch on a good day. Has previously won here and from the 3 spot can do so again 4. AWATIXA - Capable mare with two races under her belt following an extended break and if fully fit can make her presence felt 5. AZROU LEMAN - Useful at this level. Reassured at Agon recently and if focused will have a good hand to play 6. BOREADY - Not the most dependable but placed twice in last four. Is new to the venue but will justifiably garner support 7. ALEX DES CHAMPS - Acquits himself respectably for the most part. Has won under these conditions and must be afforded respect 8. BINGO DE BLARY - Raced better at Enghien than the result would suggest. Has previously won at this level and can get a look in 9. AHINA DE MERVEILLE - Last trotted into the frame over 14 months ago and can be confidently passed over 10. AQUI MADRIK - Has enjoyed a fruitful summer to date. Goes on any ground and looks competitive for place in the frame 11. COLIBRI DES PINS - Has shown marginal improvement in recent weeks. Reassured at Enghien last weekend and will generate some interest 12. BACCARAT TEJY - One of the most consistent horses here. Seldom disappoints in the amateur category and can again finish in the mix 13. BANCO DE MADKER - Serious at this level when focused and is confirmed here. Imposed twice last month and expected to continue his productive ways 14. BOMEC DE BAUBRIE - Unplaced in three since imposing at Biarritz early last month and will need to raise his game

Summary

Although unplaced in her last two (3) COUM BA A PANJAS has nothing to prove at this level and considering her spot behind the car can well have her way. Verneuil can nevertheless expect to encounter resistance from (10) AQUI MADRIK who seldom disappoints in this category. (1) AFRIKANDER is barefoot with the inside line and can make the most of his good entry. If focused (6) BOREADY will have his chances.

Selections

(3) COUM BA A PANJAS - (10) AQUI MADRIK - (1) AFRIKANDER - (6) BOREADY

Race 4

1. ELLITA DU BIGRE - Returns to a hard surface following a brace of good efforts on turf but in this company will need to find more 2. ELEKTRA SYGA - Complicated but can trot when focused. Latest results however do little to inspire confidence 3. EL PASO DE L'OCEAN - Has shown marked improvement over past three weeks but steps back up in class and chances limited 4. ESPOIR DE REP - Back in the game following a lean patch with three frame finishes. Breaks in front and should not be far off the mark 5. EZIO - Has demonstrated decent aptitude for the game. Unseen for almost 12 months though and expected to need the race 6. EXTRA DU RENOUARD - Moderate sort that showed more during the spring and will have his work cut out 7. EXPRESS JIM - Has ability but never far from losing his action and will not be easy to back 8. EPSOM GIRL - No slouch on a good day and tends to race respectably here but form regressing and others preferred 9. ECUREUIL PHIL - Very disappointing so far this year and can be confidently passed over 10. ERRATUM - Back at the top of his game recently. Impressive on turf a fortnight ago and will not be far off the mark 11. ETOILE MYSTIC - Blows hot and cold but goes well for her driver and can play a leading role 12. ETARA - Respectable mare that regularly gives her best but faces a stiff test here with an extra 25m to travel 13. EPI DES LANDES - Won three on the trot before being given a break. Comes here fresh and while unlikely to impose can still make the frame 14. ETINCELLE DU PARC - Quality individual with nothing to prove at this level. Has one race under her belt and if race fit can impose

Summary

The main contenders start on the second line here and if fully fit following her recent comeback (14) ETINCELLE DU PARC should be able to win a race of this nature. (11) ETOILE MYSTIC gets on like a house on fire for Yoann Lebourgeois and looks the principal threat. Like a horse reborn prior to his spell (13) EPI DES LANDES returns to competition on a four-timer and should be competitive for a place in the first three. (10) ERRATUM appears to have found his way again and will have a lot to offer.

Selections

(14) ETINCELLE DU PARC - (11) ETOILE MYSTIC - (13) EPI DES LANDES - (10) ERRATUM

Race 5

1. ECU D'AMOUR - Delicate type that is unbeaten in two here. Is shod this time but will still garner support 2. ELISA DU MOTTAY - Useful on a good day but has done little of note lately and must raise her game 3. ECRIN DE MESLAY - Erratic sort that reassured somewhat at Dieppe a fortnight ago but must still find more 4. ELGAR - Useful dual discipline type that has shown more under harness recently and others preferred 5. ETONNANTE NONNA - Moderate mare that trotted fourth to (8) EAGLE WIND here last time. Failed to confirm though and chances limited 6. EMERAUDE - Enjoying something of a renaissance for past two months. Unlikely to make it three in a row but can still put on a good show 7. EPEE - Rarely far off the mark when she can keep her action together. Pleased on only appearance here and from the front row can get a look in 8. EAGLE WIND - Quality element that is well behind in earnings. Imposed well here earlier in the month and can double his money 9. EXAUCE NOUS - Decent trotter that came second to (8) EAGLE WIND here recently. Goes barefoot again and must be respected 10. ESPRIT MYSTIC - Not as sharp as he was during the spring but is confirmed here and must not be overlooked 11. EMBLEME ORANGE - Regular sort that seldom disappoints. Returns from a well earned spell and can get straight back in the game 12. DZEUS D'AVIGNERE - Blows hot and cold but has ample ability. Sanctioned on comeback but Anne stable in cracking form and can go close 13. ELSA RUSH - Has previously won under these conditions. Presently in decent shape and can make the first five

Summary

Winner of two of her last three and latterly in very good order over course and distance (8) EAGLE WIND goes unshod behind again and can repeat. The hardy (12) DZEUS D'AVIGNERE lost her action on re-entry here earlier in the month but can more than make amends. A revelation since returning to racing barefoot (6) EMERAUDE debuts at the venue on a hat-trick and the 25m head-start can only work to her advantage. The faithful (11) EMBLEME ORANGE comes here fresh and can play a role.

Selections

(8) EAGLE WIND - (12) DZEUS D'AVIGNERE - (6) EMERAUDE - (11) EMBLEME ORANGE

Race 6

1. FREEDOM DU PARC - Alternates the good with the less good but showed her form under the saddle last time and can get a look in 2. FAIRY TALE DARLING - Has ample ability but dependability not his strong suit. Shoes off for Le Mont debut though and from the 2 spot must not be underestimated 3. FOLLOW MY STAR - Decent fifth at Cabourg after having imposed at Angers. Ideally positioned in front and can make the frame 4. FRANCESCO - Showed promise at three but out of the picture this term and must reaffirm 5. FATSBY DE GUEZ - Impressive earlier in the summer before twice losing his action but should have this in the bag if he can keep his action together 6. FOLETTE DU MANS - Very disappointing since returning to competition and appears to have no realistic chance 7. FLANAGANE - Has not disappointed in two starts at the venue but below par at Le Mans last time and must raise her game 8. FADETTE DE CYM - Fine trotter and particularly effective when barefoot. Starts wide but can still apply the pressure on (5) FATSBY DE GUEZ 9. FRANKY SATYNE - Complicated but has significant talent. Went close at Royan and even though in better company here should still give an honest account 10. FEPSON - Seldom gets his nose in front but always gives his best. Caught the eye at Mauquenchy recently but the draw does him no favours 11. FUN COPAIS - Goes well clockwise and form headed in right direction. Not ideally drawn but will have his supporters 12. FORREST BEJI - Has turned a corner since returning to racing barefoot. On the second line but a major player all the same

Summary

Winner three earlier in the summer (5) FATSBY DE GUEZ was sanctioned in his next two but has a good position in front and just needs to stay in stride in order to win this. (8) FADETTE DE CYM has been on a fine run over recent months but starts wide and looks second best. (12) FORREST BEJI is not ideally drawn either but comes here on a hat-trick and going barefoot again looks a serious proposition. (3) FOLLOW MY STAR is not the most dependable of trotters but has the plum spot behind the car and should not be far off the mark.

Selections

(5) FATSBY DE GUEZ - (8) FADETTE DE CYM - (12) FORREST BEJI - (3) FOLLOW MY STAR

Race 7

1. DULCINEE - Not without merit but sanctioned in four of last five and will have few takers 2. DUNE D'OURVILLE - Totally out of the picture this year and has no realistic chance 3. DAVINA - Erratic sort that has failed to fire in both starts since the break and unlikely to generate much interest 4. DAME NOIRE PHI - Modest mare that has done nothing of note for some time and can be ruled out 5. DIVINE NUIT - Has acquitted herself well for the most part this season. Showed her form at Enghien a fortnight ago and with application can make a big splash 6. DIANE DU MOUCHEL - Moderate type that has not made the frame in last eight outings. Won her only start at the venue though and will have her supporters 7. CARTOUCHE JEMISKA - Handy sort that encouraged in an amateur event here earlier in the month. 25m worse off this time but should still have a good hand to play 8. DIANE D'HAUFOR - Fine mare with references at a superior level. Has two races in her following a lengthy absence and if fully fit can go close 9. DAME DE TILLARD - Useful dual discipline trotter. Has never delivered here but is presently in flying form and must be respected 10. DARLING HARBOUR - Very hard to fault since the start of the year. Untried at the venue and incurs the penalty but still looks a major player

Summary

Excellent for some time (10) DARLING HARBOUR has just one real blip on her formsheet this season. She benefits from a superb entry here and can make her Mont-Saint-Michel debut a winning one. That being said (9) DAME DE TILLARD returns to the harness code on the back of two fine efforts under the saddle and can give her a run for her money. The regular (5) DIVINE NUIT is 25m better off and with Lebourgeois in the wagon looks a player. (7) CARTOUCHE JEMISKA pleased here earlier in the month and even though on the second line this time should not be far off the mark.

Selections

(10) DARLING HARBOUR - (9) DAME DE TILLARD - (5) DIVINE NUIT - (7) CARTOUCHE JEMISKA

CLYDE BARROW - Fine servant that finished a place behind (6) CHAUD DEVANT at Cabourg recently. Is untried here but a player all the same 9. VIENS TU - Quality element that went close last time here but unraced for the past year and will need the outing 10. CHINI DE L'OISON - Not the most reliable but has ample ability. ATUS PICKEN - No champion but can trot. Encouraged at Dinan a fortnight ago but still has more to find

Summary

Very hard to knock when racing right-handed (6) CHAUD DEVANT boasts a fine record in these speed events and being reined by Yoann Lebourgeois looks the horse to beat. (8) CLYDE BARROW is another quality element but finished a place behind him at Cabourg recently and again looks second best. Unbeaten under these conditions (3) CESARIO BELLO has an excellent spot on the front line and can begin to redeem himself.
