EARLY-ROUND SHOWDOWNS AT SWISS INDOORS BASEL ON WEDNESDAY

 DAY 3 PREVIEW: All eight singles players competing Wednesday on Centre Court at Swiss Indoors Basel have advanced to the tournament quarter-finals (or better) before. Headlining the schedule is a second-round match between No. 3 seed and , who each reached the quarters in 2014. Nadal owns a 6-0 FedEx Head to Head record against Dimitrov, including straight-set wins at ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events in Madrid and Rome earlier this season. Two-time semi-finalists and Ivo Karlovic have also met six times entering their opening-round match, with the second-seeded Swiss leading 5-1. In other first-round matches on Centre Court, No. 7 seed Marin Cilic meets Basel native and No. 4 seed takes on 2014 semi-finalist Borna Coric. Only one man playing on Wednesday has reached the Swiss Indoors Basel final and he’s not on Centre Court. No. 8 seed , the 2014 runner-up, faces qualifier in a second-round match on Court 2.

 BASEL BRINGS CHIUDINELLI AND FEDERER TOGETHER: Wild card Marco Chiudinelli and No. 1 seed were born in Basel 33 days apart, 34 years ago.
