The documentary series was written and produced by journalist Claudia Collins. Episodes focused on local issues and general interest stories relevant to the Las Vegas community such as the National Finals Rodeo, Red Rock Canyon, women stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, and the Clark County Wetlands Park. The collection includes production files for episodes including scripts, research notes, correspondence, and newspaper clippings. Also included are digital copies of select Real to Reel episodes. Historical Background

Real to Reel was a documentary series produced by Vegas PBS that was on air from approximately 1981 to 1991. The show focused on highlighting issues and general interests pertinent to the Las Vegas, Nevada community such as environmental issues, women who work on the Las Vegas Strip, tourism, and the National Finals Rodeo. Claudia Collins, a local journalist, hosted the show as well as produced and wrote several of the episodes. Source:

Scope and Contents Note

The Real to Reel Documentary Series Records (approximately 1981-1991) consists mainly of production files used for the Real to Reel documentary series which aired on KLVX which was Las Vegas, Nevada's local PBS station in the 1980s. Processing Note In 2021, Tammi Kim minimally processed this collection and created the finding aid in ArchivesSpace. Video files were transferred off of optical discs and USB thumb drives and converted to M4V.
