We work with all levels of national, devolved and local government, train operators and like- minded voluntary bodies to promote the interests of rail users and secure improvements to rail services. We are completely independent of political parties, trades unions and railway management. The survey was prepared for the International Group of railfuture by Damian Bell, Trevor Garrod, Simon Hope, Julian Langston and Peter Walker, with assistance from Dick Clague (Isle of Man Travelwatch), to whom we give our sincere thanks. It was published by the Media, Marketing and Communications Group (MMC). We are grateful to all members of railfuture and others who contributed their experiences. Still, it takes ones breath when realizing the huge challenges ahead. Articles and Letters Statistics has not always been considered as being very necessary. In 1848 the Dutch On Bayesian Measures of Ministry of Home Affairs established an ofŮice of statistics. And then, thirty years later Uncertainty in Large or InŮinite minister Kappeyne van de Coppelo abolishes the “superŮluous” ofŮice. Statistics at the CBS has evolved from “simple” counting to an art requiring a broad range On the Probability of Co-primality of competences. Of course counting remains important. For example the CBS reports in of two Natural Numbers Chosen February 2017 that almost 1 out of 4 people entitled to vote in the Netherlands is over the at Random p. 7 age of 65. But clearly, knowing this generates questions. What is the inŮluence of this on the outcome of the elections? This calls for more data. Demographic data are combined with survey data and nowadays also with data from other sources, in part to release the “survey pressure” that Ůirms and individuals are facing.

  • North Lincolnshire's Newcomers in 2019
North Lincolnshire’s newcomers in 2019 A short statistics overview for people who plan or deliver services, and are planning for migrants who are the newest arrivals to North Lincolnshire. Photo credits: Steve Morgan [photographer] and Yorkshire Futures [source]. 1. Introduction Who is this briefing paper for? This document is aimed at people who plan or deliver local services in North Lincolnshire. You might find you are often the first people who meet and respond to newcomers in the local area. You will know that people who have just arrived in an area often need more information and support than those who have had time to adjust and learn about life in the UK. These newcomers might benefit from information about key services for example, in their first language. This briefing paper provides an overview of the numbers and geographical patterns of new migrants who recently have come to live in North Lincolnshire and were issued with a national insurance number [NINO] in 2019. We hope you will find the information presented here useful for planning services and engagement with new communities, making funding applications, or for background research for you or your colleagues to better understand migration in your area. Where has the data come from? This briefing paper was produced by Migration Yorkshire in September 2020. This document uses information from the Department for Work and Pensions [DWP] about non-British nationals who successfully applied for a NINO in 2019. We have used this as a proxy for newcomers, because new arrivals usually need to apply for a NINO in order to work or claim benefits.
