1 INTRODUCTION

The Company commenced operations on 1st September 1996 due to the initiative and foresight of the Late Phillip Toepfer who was the Managing Director of this successful Company (ie Winner of Awards for ‘Outstanding Business Growth’ in relation to ‘Fastest 100 Growing Hunter Companies 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007’).

T.R.E.E.S. P/L has established a reputation as an industry leading company specialising in Environmental Consulting predominantly in the field of Erosion and Sediment Control.

T.R.E.E.S. P/L has been engaged on projects in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, ACT and Tasmania. Additionally, T.R.E.E.S. P/L is a member of the International Erosion Control Association (IECA). The Company is the Soil Conservationist on the Lendlease Bouygues Joint Venture team which recently won the ‘International Green Apple Award’ for Environmental Best Practice on the NorthConnex Project in North Western Sydney and also on the Lendlease Bouygues Joint Venture team which was ‘Highly Commended’ at the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) Awards for Environmental Excellence on the NorthConnex Project in North Western Sydney. In 2010, the Company was a member of the Abigroup Contractors team which won the ‘Environmental Achievement Category’ of the IECA Awards for Construction of the Woomargama Bypass on the Hume Highway.

In 2000, the Company together with Thiess Pty Ltd won the ‘Environmental Achievement Grand Award’ from the IECA for ‘Excellence in Natural Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection through the Application of Effective Erosion and Sediment Control Policies, Practices or Public Education’ on the Bulahdelah to Coolongolook Freeway.

T.R.E.E.S. P/L has been a ‘key’ team member in many other Environmental Awards (eg Case Earth, Banksia, and Master Builders Association).

The Company policy is ‘value for money’ and professionalism in all aspects of operation, as demonstrated by winning the Environmental Services Category of the ‘2003 Newcastle Environmental Achievement Awards - Business and Government Enterprise’.

The Company has been a significant contributor to the NSW Blue Book publications:  ‘Managing Urban Stormwater, Soils and Construction, Volume 2D, Main Road Construction (DECC – 2008).  Managing Urban Stormwater, Soils and Construction, Volume 2C, Unsealed Roads (DECC – 2008).

Primarily, the Company provides expert advice and management support for Environmental, Soil and Water Management issues to government, major contractors and the broader construction industry. Our experience extends across a wide variety of construction, including main road construction, rail construction, major infrastructure developments, state significant urban construction projects (e.g. included several Olympic sites), mining and quarrying operations, commercial and residential subdivisions and rural practices.

3 PERSONNEL

The team at T.R.E.E.S. P/L has been involved with a range of projects providing their personnel with intimate knowledge and experience over many regions to give a ‘balanced and practical’ approach to erosion and sediment control and environmental issues.

John Wright (Senior Soil Conservationist) and Grant Fletcher (Environmental Consultant & CPESC) head our team with Clive Wightwick (Environmental Consultant) as support.

John Wright has been with the Company since its inception in 1996 and specialises in Erosion and Sediment Control.

Grant Fletcher is a recent addition to our team and brings extensive experience in environmental issues which T.R.E.E.S. P/L wishes to pursue.

All personnel are equipped with the necessary PPE Safety equipment (eg hard hat, safety vest, safety boots etc) and access to any other relevant equipment (eg UHF radio etc).

The following is a list of the major activities in which T.R.E.E.S. P/L personnel have been involved:  Preparation of Scope of Work documents.  Preparation of Tender documents.  Review of Environmental documentation.  Preparation and review of Design Plans.  Preparation and review of Specifications.  Risk Management Assessment.  Presentation of Training seminars.  Preparation of Erosion & Sediment Control Plans (Primary & Progressive).  Review of Erosion & Sediment Control Plans (Primary & Progressive).  Provision of advice during Drainage Design and early project set-up stage (eg location and design of sediment basins).  Recommendation and monitoring in relation to implementation of erosion and sediment control measures during construction (eg separation of ‘clean’ and ‘dirty’ runoff).  Provision of Rehabilitation advice.  Supervision of Rehabilitation of sites.  Monitoring of Rehabilitation progress.

5 GENERAL METHODOLOGY

Methodology generally depends on:  Requirements of Client.  Size of project.  Sensitivity of project (eg wetlands, endangered flora & fauna species, marine park, National park).  Soil type, topography and climate conditions.  Location of project in relation to watercourses and water bodies etc.
